why don't you idiots leave your name or something when you neg for the dumbest reasons?

do i have to say it again? despite GSP being my favorite fighter of all time, he is ducking BJ PENN, since he has a lot more to lose than he does to gain. he said it himself, he is not in the right mental state to fight right now, so he's resting and training to get back to that mental state to be able to fight BJ PENN.

That's not really ducking Penn, that's more like being smart and healing up.

I'll pos rep you just for the hell of it because I certainly could not disagree with you more. To use the term "ducking" is a very low blow to use about a fighter and I don't GSP is ducking him whatsoever. He wants to take a freaking break- that's it period. He's fought 4 times in the past year and he started with his comeback after the Serra upset with a hard fight with Kos. Then on short notice he takes on Hughes then his rematch in Montreal that put a huge amount of pressure on him to deliver in front of the home crowd. Now he's coming off a 5 round battle with Fitch- if the guy wants to take a break then he's more than entitled to.

That's it- no freaking "ducking" that's crap.

EDIT: Or what Damone said in one sentence- lol.

thanks, but the way i see it, 4 months is more than enough time and I know GSP can beat BJ PENN at his current level. personally, i think GSP would destroy him. however, he is not in the mental state to do it., thus the "ducking". yes, it's a smart move i guess, since he knows he's not ready for it and he knows himself better than anyone else. but i'm just a little disappointed that he needs more than 4 months to get ready. i know he wants a break from fighting, but it's his job so he should be putting everything into it.

GSP has approximately twice as many fights as Penn has per year, so if GSP is "ducking" Penn then Penn is ducking Florian, Huerta and whoever else are lined up for title shot on light weight. GSP could take 6 months long break and still have as many fights as Penn by the time year is over, give him a freakin break.
I have huge respect for GSP, A. Silva and now Floarian for fighting as regularly as they do. Penn nuthuggers sure love twisting the facts as they see fit, yet I don't see them complaining about Penn having "laziest" fight schedule compared to other champs (not counting Forrest or Nog now because of TUF, but pre-TUF Forrest was fighting pretty regularly too).

Also you never know- that might have been GSP's first gut reaction after coming off the hard fight. After some time off he might get the rest/rejuvenation he needs and then comes back for that fight in December. We'll have to see.

"GSP has everything to loose.. GSP has everything to loose.."

Of course he does! Like all other belt holders!! A champ has much more to loose than win.

However I really hope he can take the fight for NY's eve AND be at his best. (being at his best for GSP means being even more impressive than before)
