It has lost some appeal for sure, not all. Grudge matches need to happen quicker than this to maintain interest.
I thought Hughes would win this pretty easily when it was first going to happen because Serra is so obviously not a top 10 WW. Now I'm not so sure. Hughes has looked so slow and out of place his last couple fights that he could lose this. Hughes has fought GSP who is ridiculously good and Alves who is good and enormous so maybe he isn't as bad as I think, it is just relative to a couple very tough opponents.
The problem with that argument is that even in his wins the last couple years he hasn't looked that good. He clearly lost the first two rounds to Penn before the injury/gassing/whatever in the third. He grinds out a decision against Lytle, a fighter that a top 10 WW should smash.
I think this will actually be a really boring fight because both guys are going to be desparate to avoid another loss so they'll fight more to "not lose" rather than win. I think Hughes will take an action lacking decision.
Serra should definitely drop down to LW if he can after this fight. There is no top 10 WW he has even a remote hope of beating other than Hughes.
