Hansen has become one of my favorite fighters. Now, I'm no anti-UFC person by any means. I love how he sticks by his guns and doesn't care about fame or money. Mainstream media/entertainment sucks for the most part, but any MMA is good for me.

But, then again, that may have just been a real showy bonus on top of whatever Hellboy got for making it to the finals. I don't remember any payroll figures being released. Perhaps other perks were included for the winner as well.

I'm not sure I really give a shit what Hansen thinks. He's so damn hit or miss I can't think of a top ten UFC LW that I don't think could beat him silly. I would agree with him that the Japanese fans on the whole are more respectful and seemingly more knowledgeable about grappling, still don't let sour grapes over the UFC spoil the whole NA experience. I really can't wait to see him fight Alvarez now.

And browncow he didn't really make it to the finals, he was an alternate subbing in for Alvarez who doctors said was unable to continue that night because of damage to his eye. Still I like Hansen a lot for stomping Aoki who I do NOT like a lot.

I highly doubt that the UFC would have offered Hansen anything near $100,000 to fight for them.

Also, 1,000,000 円 would translate to just over $10,000 - although that still isn't much for winning a GP, Hansen would be lucky to clear much more than that as a base pay by the UFC and if you think otherwise, you're just kidding yourself.

LOL. My opinion of him as a fighter is the same. He's exciting. My opinion of his intelligence however, has changed. What a stupid stupid individual. There are very few organizations that can afford to pay a decent wage. The UFC would be the primary organization. If you are a fighter and someone asks you what you think of the UFC you should say, "Oh they are wonderful, would love to work for them." It doesn't matter what you really think, you are a fighter. Shut the **** up about organizations that PAY fighters.

And this guy should have really manned up and said "American fans" instead of "Mainstream fans" Its obvious that is what he really meant. What a douche bag a person, but he fights well.

A groan of tedium escapes me...

Just over 10k AUD, just over 9k USD. But he got more than that.

If he fought exciting fights in the UFC he could make more than that with FOTN/etc bonuses added on.

Well - Hellboy got something right, and it is that Japanese fans are slightly more into MMA... but that is only because Fighting has been a sport in Japan since the beginning of time. They have no football there, they have Sumo Festivals in July and September instead. AND they have a huge MMA fight every New Years Eve!

But Hellboy should know this and not make such stubborn over generalizations about American fans!!

Who knows, maybe in 2-3 years he will have to come and fight in front of the US crowd again.
