Also, 1,000,000 円 would translate to just over $10,000 - although that still isn't much for winning a GP, Hansen would be lucky to clear much more than that as a base pay by the UFC and if you think otherwise, you're just kidding yourself.
You really think he'll get as much as an someone from TUF for his base pay? I think he can get a little bit more then that out of the UFC.

Cro Cop and Rampage are far more marketable though, one has arguably the greatest highlight reels of all time, the other is a likeable character. Joachim's a great fighter, but he's not quite as attention grabbing as the aforementioned fighters with regard to his achievements in the sport.

Look at Anderson, he was virtually unknown to everyone but the hardcore fans and the only time you really heard his name was when someone was talking about the Chonan fight. He comes into the UFC, wins a few fights, the UFC starts their hype machine and now everyone and their brother is touting him as the P4P best fighter. Hansen would do great in the UFC and if he racked up a few wins and the UFC started to hype him I think he could become pretty big here. There's some good matchups for him in the UFC LW division and I think he can beat any of the LW's but fights with BJ and Sherk would be tough.
Don't get me wrong, I definitely think Joachim would eventually become a big player in the UFC, I just don't think he'd be getting more than a guy like Roger Huerta who is extremely popular and was scoffed at by Dana for wanting $100000/fight. Maybe Joachim could work his way up the purse ladder, but I think he'd be lucky to get $50000/fight from Dana.

That is too bad I would've loved to seen him compete in the UFC.

we'll if you ever watched a pride event or dream, you can clearly see that the japanese fans appreciate the mma game alittle more then the american fans do.

someone once asked me when we talk about PrideFC why we never put
"the" in front of it, i asked him, "do you put the word 'the' in front of God?"

No not really. They are a different society, one I would be perfectly happy with. They are quiet and discreet in public and observant at MMA events and I would never hate on them. That being said, American society is louder on the way to work, on weekends, and at UFC events. People can look down their noses at that if they want. But that's petty in my eyes. As an entertainer you should entertain and be thankful for the opportunity. Alot of people get up for work in the morning and bust their ass all day long for little pay and if people are loud and obnoxious around them, they don't make enough money to care.

A groan of tedium escapes me...

I don't see how he is hating America with his comments.
