Patrick Cote’s Take On Silva Fight.

Quote:

Not many people are giving Patrick Cote much of a chance at beating Anderson Silva when the two meet at UFC 90 but that doesn’t mean that Cote isn’t confident. Cote is riding a five fight win streak and recently won a tough and some would say disputed decision over very talented middleweight Ricardo Almeida and doesn’t plan on letting the Spider find his comfort zone. Here’s Cote’s quote from The Fight Network radio:

We know how to beat Anderson Silva. The only way to beat him is to push the pace. Go forward all the time.”
“You can’t let him get confident and comfortable in the centre of the Octagon. You have to push the pace for five minutes every round. If I do that, I can catch him. I’ll take care of him.”

Despite his strong words Cote definitely has an uphill battle with Silva who has never been close to defeat in the Octagon and boasts victories over Henderson, Lutter, Franklin, and Irvin. Silva hasn’t just won his fights he’s utterly destroyed the competition, and Cote has to be aware of the fact that Silva can punch with the best of them. UFC 90: Silva vs. Cote will also feature Diego Sanchez taking on Thiago Alves, and Sean Sherk returning to the octagon to face Tyson Griffin.

Its good to see Cote has confidence going into this fight but I don't think it will do him any good. He is going up against a man that has better cardio, a better ground game, and better striking. Cote has good striking, his cardio and ground skills are highly suspect. My prediction is Silva will win this by submission round 1.

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam

Poor Cote, I think hes gonna get wasted. I hope he gets a decent payday for the punishment. Just curious do you guys think Cote could beat franklin? or Irvin? Didnt Cote get smoked by Lutter?

I hope he has a go at it but I can't see this going beyond the first round.

Silva for the win.

I think almost every fighter who's fought him has said if they just push him back they can win. The only problem is Anderson's striking is so dangerous and he's so fast it's easy for him to make his opponents stop and back up even for a second. All it takes is that split second and then he's moving forwards instead of backwards, and that's pretty much the end of the fights.

Who knows? Cote has a great chin, he could possibly stay in his face that long.

Leben showed us that you can have a head made of cinderblocks and you're still going down. I like Cote, and I wouldn't mind if he won but to be honest I don't like his chances.

Cote has the worst game plan coming in. Look what happened to leben when he tried to push the pace and rely on his chin. Now leben is on HL reels for the rest of his life.

Yeah, but you gotta admire Cote's confidence He's going to go after a guy with better striking and better knockout ability using HIS striking and knockout ability? Guy's got some true balls.
