Cote has no business fighting Silva for the belt and frankly I don't understand what the hell the UFC was thinking. He's going to be utterly demolished by Anderson, same as he would be against any of the top ten MW's.

This fight reminds me a great deal of the Jardine/Liddell fight.

Everyone is counting Cote out before the fight even starts, saying the same line of "he doesn't even deserve the fight, this is pointless". It'll be very amusing if Cote pulls out the win here.

With that said, I see Silva winning this fairly easy.

haha, well put!

Being Canadian, I truely hope that Cote isn't as stupid as he sounds. I'm sure he is just trying to sell the fight, he knows the outcome.

His best shot is some how, some way cut Silva off and press him against the cage and use his cute little foot stomps for 25 minutes. That said, he'll then have to hope for a miracle that Silva doesn't over power him and unleash Muay Tai fury on his arrogant ass while inside the clinch, which would happen. Like I said, hope for a miracle.

Bring on Maia, someone that DOES have tools to beat Silva.
What threat is Maia to Silva? His striking is average, as is his wrestling so unless Silva went for a takedown he would never be in Maia's guard. Silva would destroy him standing up and unless Maia got Silva in his guard (and i don't see how he would) Silva wins easily.

I'm so damn sick of the Cote hate. You all forget how soon upsets happen. I am not saying Cote will win this fight. Nine-and-a-half-times out of ten, he loses. But this is MMA. And Cote COULD catch him. He probably won't. But don't seem ignorant and say things like, "omfg, annddy>cote kthnxbai"

Fact is -- Upsets happen. The end.

I have to agree with Cote on this one as Pushing this fight in the only friggin chance he will have. Honestly he is not gonna take Anderson down and if he backs up and counter punches Anderson will pick him apart. So Cote needs to come out swinging and pray for a miracle. Not that i think he has a chance but if your going down you might as well go down swinging.

Chances make Champion's....Champion's take chances

I usually don't recommend this, but back off like your hurt when he hits you, then just put all your energy into throwing a bomb. crazier shit has happened.

He won't have to pretend he is hurt lol. Just when Silva goes for the finish he should try and wind up.

Agreed. Not only that, Cote clearly is the #1 contender right now so he deserves the shot even if he isn't the worst possible match up for Silva.
He was 1 fight away from that shot already but got beaten by Lutter on TUF finale, so he ended up winning 5 more fights to earn the shot.

This is MMA, and its fair for everyone that people who deserve the title shots get them. While I agree Penn vs. GSP will be entertaining fight alot of LW and WW fighters got screwed up by the bullshit that Penn was given a shot he didn't deseve, specially with people still lining up for his LW belt.
Cote is indeed about 1:10 ~ 1:20 underdog on this, but after Silva already cleared previous #1 contenders Cote is next in line. If he does like he says and pushes the fight, we might seriously see an upset or another impressive KO by Silva.
In any case I am happy they gave him the shot, I hope Machida gets his soon too even though Im not a huge Machida fan. Its not just about pitting the best against best, if you don't lose fights you get the shot (Cote), if you keep losing you don't (Liddell) ex-champ or not.

Upsets happen, but it would take a miracle for Cote to win. He'll get KO'd in the 1st.
