How would Mirko Cro Cop do if he returned to the UFC at this very moment?

As you all know Mirko left the UFC because (1. he lost badly to Gonzaga and Kongo (2. His style did not work well with the cage (3. Dana did not want to pay Mirko $350,000 per fight to put on lackluster performanes and decided it was contract re-negotiation time (4. Just needed to get his confidence back.

Last we heard Mirko was planning on coming back and said he would train extensively in the cage. If he kept true to his word and trained all this time in a cage would he be a force in the UFC if he decided to comeback?

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam

I don't think he'd fare too well unfortunately. The new generation of fighters are just too well rounded for him and his style is not well tailored for the cage. The cage doesn't emphasize his strengths and it makes his weaknesses more vulnerable. He also didn't seem to have his same spark he had in PRIDE and was less than explosive in any of his fights. He recently stated he prefered fighting in Japan and he didn't like the cage but also said he'd return to prove his losses in the UFC were "just a bad period." I'd love to see him in old form but unless it's in a ring and against B level fighters I doubt he could hang with many of the top 10 UFC heavyweights. I hope I'm wrong though.

I think he would be a contender, but if he were to rematch Gonzaga, I think he would lose again.

I think he would be able to hold his own with the top level guys. Like The Legend said I think he would lose to Gonazaga if he fought him again but I think he could beat most of the other UFC HW's.

Not too sure, Mirko hasn't done anything outside of the UFC to show he'd be back in the mix, that is why the Overeem fight (if it goes down) is so crucial for him. Truthfully I don't think Mirko will return to the dominant fighter he once was, which is too bad.

gonzaga stole his soul...and until he proves he's got it back w/ a victory of over solid fighter (Overeem, Sergei, etc), i don't want to see him in the UFC

If he keeps it standing and doesn't let guys push the pace against him too much, he'll pretty much KO anyone. Of course I'm a nuthugger.

Crocop is essentially a career of impressive ass kickings of no namers. If he came back to the UFC he would have to be SEVERELY babysat to give any sort of entertaining performance.
