Erm... he's talking about James Thompson, who fought Kimbo on CBS and also fought Aleks in PRIDE.

Also, let's just take a walk down hypothetical lane. If the UFC were to have a prime time Saturday night show on CBS, what kind of numbers do you guys think it would do? I would think that 15 million would be the bare minimum they'd consider a successful show.

15 million would never happen (at least not any time within the forseable future). The UFC most watched tv show was UFN with Ortiz-Shamrock 3. That got like a 3.0 which about 3 million homes. The average UFN range is in the low 1's. Even when you take into account the differences between cable and network tv it is not even close to 15 million.

Ortiz-Shamrock did 5.9 million if I remember correctly. If Elite XC can do 6.5 million, the UFC should be able to at least double that.

The UFC would make a monster card for their debut, and hype the crap out of it, so I don't think 15 million is in any way unreachable.

It depends how you equate the ratings. A .1 is considered 100 thousand homes, 1.0 a million, ect. Ortiz-Shamrock 3 did a little over a 3.0. Thats roughly a little over 3 millions homes watching. Obviouslly there will be more people watching than just homes but the way rating usually work is by determining how many homes are tuning in.

Which is unfortunate, because Goldberg and Rogan are miles ahead of those bums from the EliteXC shows.

UFC's production is top-notch.

Putting Kimbo on the CBS show is a pretty smart move considering most EXC fans are Kimbo fanatics. They don't care about the other fights just Kimbo Slice. But this doesn't gaurentee that they will get solid numbers...

You also have to consider how well CBS is going to promote the next show. Remember, they did a terrible job advertising the last EXC show. There were people on this forum that didn't know that there was a show until the day after. You also have to consider how many who watched the first EXC show were just curious on-lookers that decided they didn't like it.

yeah EXC did a pretty poor job of marketing their last show. I had no idea the thing was on till the next day as well. I will give them credit for one thing though they have really hyped up kimbo like crazy. Their putting him in fights against guys who have little chance to beat him. Now Granted the last fight Thompson took it to him, but he still had that giant bulls eye on his ear which made him fairly easy pray. If Kimbo ever looses before a few of the other guys in the promotion can a get a following i'm sure that will spell the end for Elite XC.
I wouldn't be at all suprised if UFC was to take Elite XC's spot on CBS (which i'm sure would pretty much spell the end for XC). That the UFC would follow that up with signing KImbo and putting him up against some one like Lesnar to main event on the first UFC show on CBS. I'm sure the ratings would go through the roof.

My hope would be that they would ust shift over UFN's to that slot. Nothing changed at all except maybe higher quality matchups (i.e. not being headlined by a guy like Nate Diaz). I cant see the CBS ppl getting the production any better then it is (unless of course they read the "what would you change in the UFC production" thread ) so imo they should just leave it the **** alone.
