The television company is said to be very disappointed with the viewing figures from previous events and has decided to turn to the biggest mma promotion in the world, The Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Rumour has it that CBS will drop the promotion if the next show, scheduled for October, doesn’t make a marked improvement but is still sure of mma as a market they with to pursue.

With the UFC in a very strong position, seemingly not needing to sign a deal unless its in thier interests, it would be interesting to see what would be lined up for the promotion. This could very well be another nail in the coffin for the Affliction brand as the UFC takes it to a whole new level.

That would be great but I still dont see CBS giving up all creative and production rights to the UFC like they want. CBS will still want a major hand in how the show flows and announce teams

I read this report the other day and that's exactly what I was thinking as well. CBS bought up a bunch of EliteXC ownership so they could better control the product being shown. One of the main reasons it hasn't worked for the UFC(on regular channels or HBO) is that Dana and the org.(smartly IMO) will not cede all control over to CBS to market and present their product. Unless CBS allows the UFC to control it's own shows I doubt this will happen.

Nobody has to "force" Elite XC out anyway. If the financial reports we hear are true then just wait a year (or less) and they'll be gone.

Yeah true enough, after watching Inside MMA they need to pull strings fast.

But why not just wipe them out completely before they even get a chance?

EXC should have another solid rating with Kimbo on there, like him or not the dudes going to bring in the viewers weather it's early or later on in the show. But having the UFC on national T.V. would do wonders compared to what EXC is dishing out for us.

I completely forgot about Kimbo after watching his one fight against the monster guy, who I may say was in the best fight I've ever seen, against Fedor's brother, damn that was great. Well I hope the UFC goes on cable, they really need to go bigger and pay the fighters more. Especially the non main-eventers.

WTF? when did kimbo fight aleksander emelianenko?

And I'm glad EXC is being run out of business.I hope the UFC scoops up ninja rua and jake sheilds.Wonder where that street thug kimbo will go.Maybe back to beating up fat untrained chumps on the street and filming it hahaaha

That's right. By having Kimbo beat up on an old man convincingly, the casual fans will come to hug his nuts and CBS' nuts.

Serioulsy though, I see Ken whooping Kimbo's ass. I wonder what Gary Shaw and CBS faces will look like.
