I'd say I'm a 10.
First of all, real champions don't walk away from their belts. When Randy left the UFC, he left the belt vacant and through valiant effort in one of the greatest fights this year, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira won it.
What happened with Couture and the UFC is basically like me running away from home for a year because I complain that my family treats me so badly, talking shit about them to everyone in the community, then walking back in through the front door of the house and acting like nothing happened.
Randy Couture relinquished his title, and in doing so left the path open for a rightful heir to take his place on the throne. That man, is Nogueira.
Now to further insult Nogueira by telling him he's not the champion, you're telling him that he's not even the #1 contender. Utter bullshit. The man is undefeated in the UFC, and the person in his stead for contendership is a man who just broke even in his last UFC fight; Brock Lesnar.
The fact more deserving contenders are being swept aside for a more marketable fight defies the purpose of what it ultimately means to be a champion. Championships should be decided based on who is deserving of a shot, by ultimately two of the best fighters (at the time) facing one another, something Randy may be, but Brock certainly isn't.
It just bothers me that revenue and marketability takes precedence over ethics. The UFC HW division is already a laughing stock, and the punch-line gets more ridiculous with each latest development.
