This is the best thing that could have happened to the HW division

... IMO of course.

*I apologize if this seems like it could have been in one of the many Lesnar/Couture topics, but I'm commenting more so on The UFC's "weakest" division.

I personally think the UFC has made a brilliant move making the Lesnar/Couture fight.

With Mir and Nog coming off TUF, they will both have more recognition and bigger names than ever for the casual fan. Meanwhile you've got two of the biggest names in Lesnar and Couture locking up.

So in the end, if they're smart you've got. Two great wrestlers on one side, and two great BJJ guys on the other... and in the end, the two victors meet in the middle to decide the true undisputed champion.

This is the weight class that most people say is laughable, and while I totally understand the argument about why it shouldn't go down this way.. I think it's a brilliant move and will pay off big!

It is deffinitly bringing some much needed attention and interest to the HW division. It would seriously shake up the division is Brock Lesner wins and becomes the HW champion.

I said the exact same thing in another post. You got Mir and Nog looking like there old selves and now you got Lesner looking like he has great future potential Randy's back and a Fedor sighting possibly on the horizon. People bitch about Dana but he gets the fighters and puts on the matches people want to see.

Chances make Champion's....Champion's take chances

I'm so excited to see how this goes down. As Dana said, it's basically a four-man heavyweight championship tournament! As soon as I saw it that way I started to get a little giddy. This could be the impetus to get all the top heavyweights back into the UFC. If the division gets more attention, and Affliction folds, we may see all the fights we've dreamed about.

...I hope.

Ya ppl are getting way to up in arms about Nog being screwed over. I mean hes the favorite to take it and he finally will have the real belt. Also for those of you sayin they couldve cancelled the Nog/Mir fight and paired him up with Randy are living in fantasyland. U cant devote an entire production to hype a fight over the course of a few months and then just up and cancel it. Poor poor Fab Dum, got screwed over cuz he had a fight already scheduled. I wish Fabulous Fabricio wouldve been in Mirs place tho then it would be a much more competetive bout.

Yeah, I think a lot of people are taking this too seriously. The problem is not what has been announced this week, it is what happened ages ago when Randy walked away. The UFC is handling this in the best way that benefits the UFC, which is what they should be doing.

Hopefully there is some conflict between the coaches on TUF8 to make that fight more interesting, but I don't see Nog having issues with anyone

I do agree there is major interest in the HW division for the first time in ages, which is a good thing. Also being that two "contenders" will immediately fall by the wayside it means that up and comers will be thrust into the spotlight sooner and get some recognition as the UFC is crying out for more heavyweight stars.

Im being more postive today as I'm in a better mood.

Thanks to Plazz for the awesome sig
