Would Brock Lesnar vs. Kimbo Slice be considered a superfight?
To us MMA fans whose been following the sport for years the answer would be No ******* Way! But I am beggining to understand the true power of marketing just from these two guys alone!
Brock Lesnar and Kimbo Slice are not elite level fighters. They are far from being considered that. But they Both have gained legions of fans outside of MMA threw various media. Kimbo did street fights on Youtube and Brock Lesnar was in the WWE. They brought these youtubers and WWE fanatics into the world of MMA just from there very names alone. Because of this Kimbo is the very face of Elite XC, overshadowing there newly crowned champion, even though he has not faced stiff comptition. Brock has become No.1 contender and he had only three fights. He superceded Nog, Mir (the man who recently beat him), and Werdum because he is much more marketable then those guys.
If these two were to meet inside the cage what would the pay-per-veiw sells be like? Would it outsell Fedor vs. Josh Barnett (which every MMA fan would consider to be a real superfight) if it were on the same night? Would it make lots of money for whatever organization (most likely the UFC) its in?
You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam
