The Death of Aggression

Henderson and Evans won both their fights despite a complete lack of aggression. If this is the "game plan" of the future then count me out.

Henderson was completely reactive against Pulhares and resisted the fight going to ground at all costs. He was eventually awarded a decision.
Similarly, Evans retreated non stop and refused to engage Liddell in any meaningful way until he scored a "grand slam" KO.

These tactics disgust me and foretell a very dismal MMA future.
Thoughts?

fawkin A you're right!

the more mainstream the ufc gets, the more money will be at stake and therefore more fighters will play it safe to get the win.

repped.

Henderson is coming off 2 big loses and was fighting someone he knows can beat him if it goes to the ground. Henderson did a good job in my opinion and did everything he should have.

I just think Rashad and Liddell were feeling each other out. Do you really think Rashad wanted to just charge after Chuck knowing how many people he has KO'd in the past. I guess you would have rather seen Rashad take him down and lay on him the whole time. Just be happy it had a good ending.

These people have their safety to worry about and don't want to just go in there and bang for 15 minutes strait. In your post I didn't see anything about Chuck. Chuck did the same thing as Rashad. Are you just mad cause he lost???

physioman has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Liddel always fights as a reactive fighter, Evans fought a smart fight and took that away from him. As an MMA fan, I can appreciate using your head and some patience in a fight.

Yeah i pretty much agree with you, ever since the UFC bought Pride ive seen this coming so its not really a big surpise to me I mean hasnt anyone else noticed how many fights go to decision or end in a really lame stoppage in the past year. I doubt that im the only one who has seen this starting to happen (obviosly not because you made this thread), but it really does piss me off.

I think Rampage did the same thing too. To take away a counter puncher's advantage is to be defensive. Too bad for Chuck, he should know by now new fighters are learning about his style.

So the new strategy seems to be
1. Wait till the crowd boos for inactivity.
2. Take advantage of mistakes made by your opponent because he pushes the pace when the crowd boos.

Cool?.
