Swick Wastes No Time: “I want Silva next!”

UFC 55 Poster

By Michael DiSanto

Suffice to say, it didn’t take Anderson Silva long to establish himself as the unquestioned king of the sport’s deepest division.

In less than four combined minutes, the fearsome Brazilian striker disposed of the iron-jawed Chris Leben and then violently removed the UFC middleweight championship from the clutches of pound-for-pound great Rich Franklin.

That is the type of UFC debut that has a way of sending willing and eager future opponents scurrying in search of easier fights. However, 185-pound contender Mike Swick wants to make it crystal clear that he does not fall into that group.

“I want to fight Anderson Silva for the title in my next fight,” he said without hesitation. “I don’t want any more elimination fights or tune-ups. I want Silva next.”

i want to see his next Victim!!! Schwick is a joke and would not even come close to what Franklin did to Silva (and that means NOTHING)
It's SWICK, I know that you are new to this but it's written EVERYWHERE!

Now I want you to step away from the computer and write down on a piece of paper "I will not look like an ass for misspelling Mike Swick's name again" 100 times. Maybe that will get it stuck in your head.

Do you think it was an actual misspelling or was this guy trying to be like "Swick, more like SCHWICK muuuuhuuuhhaaa" Like the time share southpark where the skier keeps say "Stan Darsh"
I just want to gauge just HOW asinine this post is.

Perhaps I'm just wondering out loud here, but if the UFC plans to bring in someone to fight Silva (say a Lindland), then I'd think we're more likely to see Swick and Leben, with the winner facing Rich to see who gets another title shot.

I think that none of those three guys has a chance in hell at beating Anderson. Swick would get KTFO or submitted, assuming he could get Anderson to the ground without eating a knee, and Leben isn't smart enough to handle Silva's control striking and BJJ.

As for Franklin, he got handled.

I think that Lindland probably has a better chance than any of these guys. His wrestling is way more evolved and I think he might actually have a chance if he manages to take the fight to the ground, but so does Silva. But I don't Lindland will come back to the UFC, I think he's under contract with the IFL.

I don't know... I still have faith in David Loiseau. He seemed to have lost confidence after his loss and this was evident while fighting Swick in earlier rounds but if he (don't know if he ever will) regains his aggressiveness and confidence, he can be pretty serious opponent.

I would say, continue working with GSP... regains his belief in himself, have couple of dominating fights (where he actually lets his fists and elbows fly), I truly believe he can take the fight to Silva.

That is a great point on how scary this guy really is.

Can you grasp that? Leban and Franklin didn't land one punch on him.

Rich did get a punch in but that was the catylist that made anderson charge him and clinch... watch the fight again and see that he hit him causing him to shake his head then advance to the clinch. up until then rich did ok in avoiding the strikes... he should work on his clinch defense and taken this to the ground to neutralize Silva's strength in strikein... personally I think that silva is a monster but on any given night anyone can be beaten.. Ive seen too many fights that were completely one sided untin a submission changed it all... i saw anderson get put in an ankle lock as he was striking in Pride and lost the fight... so its not so far fetched....

For sure the guy is a hardass. And yeah sooner or later he will get submitted or K.O.'d but I don't think anybody is gonna make that happen anytime soon. But once he is put up against a grappler theres a better chance of him losing thats for sure.

Speaking of sick and tired of hearing things. I am sick and tired of hearing about how Rich "Deuce" Franklin wasn't himself that night, and how he would take Anderson Silva no problem in the rematch. First off...the only reason he didn't look like himself was because he has never experienced a pure owning like that before. It wasnt his broken hand or any other excuse. The fact is...he was outclassed. Not saying Rich isn't a great fighter for the UFC, but I just do not think he has what it takes to run with the big boys.

I think Anderson and Swick will be pretty close to what happened between Rich and Anderson. Swick thinks hes amazing (sure hes alright) but he isnt ready for someone of Silvas ability. Swick and Louiseau are the only 2 in the UFC that might not get knocked out so quickly! If Dave would let it hang all out in the ring like in his TKO/UCC days...he would do ok for himself and loose a decision or a later round tko/ko.

I think Anderson should gain weight and beat up Chuck next! haha
He could easily too!
