I totally agree that picking Josh Neer by knockout is a stretch for sure. Here's my reasoning:

Nate Diaz is a BJJ guy all the way, it's his bread and butter. 7 of his 9 wins are via submission. He has decent boxing but his standup needs improvement. Will he surprise us with some improved striking...maybe.

Neer has only been submitted 3 times in 31 fights. The guy can scramble. Because of this Diaz may actually try and stand with him. Neer may give Diaz the first big surprise of his career in the form of punch right on the button. Or like you mentioned it maybe a TKO when the ref calls it off.

Good stuff guys....love the banter. Keep it coming.
Nick Diaz was one of the people that subbed Neer, I think that will give Diaz the confidence to go for subs and try taking this to the ground

I know Nate isn't as good at BJJ as Nick, but he will sub Neer IMO

I like the post but I disagree with one thing. I do believe Diaz will stand with him although I don't think he'll think twice about taking it to the ground. He is very good at scrambles himself and has stated that he is not afraid to be in them.

That makes me sort of want to see a straight up ground battle. Two guys that are good scramblers can provide a fight of the night. I just hope Diaz has been working on his boxing and takedowns just incase he struggles to take Neer to the ground. His takedowns are sort of weak and his standup is decent. I think he can surprise some people if he has been working on that more because it wouldn't be like he was improving from nothing.

I'm excited to see this.

Neer will outmuscle and outwork Diaz, cutting him up with elbows in the procees enroute to an impressive UD victory.

I think Nate has better takedowns than Nick, though that's not saying much.

I like Neer more than Diaz, so I'd like to see him get a win and he very well could, but I'm going with Diaz by sub. I definitely don't think neer will KO the guy, but he could win a decision. Neer looked good against Din at LW.

Nate Diaz is going to beat Neer, I have no doubt.

Yep, I agree. His only major fault in the past was that he wasn't really strong enough to keep a lot of the other guys at his weight from taking him down. He's filled out a lot since the show though and he looks absolutely huge these days. I think as long as he handles the cut well, he's going to be very successful against Neer as he does everything Neer does a little bit better.

Neer takes the fight by Majority decision, yep hes going to be taken down but he will scrambe and jab the heck out of Diaz.

Why is this fight even happening?

I mean, Neer is tough, no doubt, but it seems strange that Diaz is fighting him. It's like a step back for Diaz and I don't mean any disrespect towards Neer. I would have rather seen Diaz fight someone in the top 10.

That being said, Neer could pull this off.

Have to agree with you there.

UFC has put together some really weird Fight Night main event matchups lately. Who would have guessed Evan Tanner (RIP) and Kendall Grove? I thought Florian vs. Lauzon was perfect. They need to keep the main event reserved for guys who are "current" title contenders. Give us a good reason to watch.

Who am I kidding. I would watch anyways. It's free!

Grove vs Tanner wasn't on an UFN.

I don't think it's that much of a step back for Nate. Neer does hold a nice win over Din Thomas.
