By showing truckload of highlights from Hughes' career and marketing that fight as his last one.
Mix it up with some old TUF highlights like Serra's kickass "Matt Hughes Impression" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqJEXtZRK3I), some back and forth trash talk mixed with the GSP-Serra-Hughes triangle, possibly their Penn fight's etc.

Basically whole marketing should rely on the past events and the fact that it'll be Hughes' last fight. For casual fans just the TUF highlights and overall trashtalk will do it, but the fact that it'll be the last fight for a future hall of famer and by far the most dominant welter weight champion ever it should draw some older fans too.
Wont be huge enough draw to work as a main event like it would have back when Serra was the champ, but definetily a co-main event material still specially for the Penn vs. GSP card. Basically in any card it'll sell better than many "normal fights" will simply because like it or not TUF sells and both Hughes and Serra are guys that people either hate or love.

Some good points, i personally can see the UFC "engineering" another dispute between the two, perhaps when Sell fights Burkman they can get Serra to say a few words to start hyping the "grudge" again

Hahaha. Mostly Osborne.

There is no way this matchup would be broadcast on a Fight Night. This is UFC 93-94 material. Loyal Hughes fans will still pay to see him fight.

To be honest if Hughes beats Serra (like I think he will), I believe that will bring back the fire and Matt will want to take out some more "up and comers" before he retires. To much pride in that guy. That's his downfall lately.

TBH Im not that excited any more to see this fight as they both are on a losing streak and will not fight again soon.

I'd say indeed it's lost its appeal: when both guys have been at the top of their game it would be fun to watch. Having seen both lose recently, I'm not so certain that it would make a nice main event. Perhaps, if it was one of the co-main events...

What streak? Serra took belt off GSP, then lost it back to him on next fight. 1 fight "losing streak" against a guy who is pretty much unbeatable by entire division right now isn't bad at all, specially as he is GSP's only loss in last 4 years or so.
Problem is Serra hasn't fought since losing his belt, he could really make a case for Serra vs. GSP III if he would actually clock couple wins now, something which he should have started to do already instead of waiting for Hughes to recover. Someone like Koscheck (I doubt Serra can beat him, but still) after he beats Hughes. Because both Serra and Koscheck are guys with a recent'ish loss against GSP, and because both are ranked top 8 in all well known rankings (like it or not) its a fight that would make a sense in a way too.
This is assuming Serra actually wants to stay in WW and go for 3rd fight against GSP instead of taking a time off again or dropping back to LW like many of us are wishing.
