Its much easier and profitable to get an unkonwn fighter from the US for minimal starting pay and build him up than it is too sign a (unkown in the US)Pride guy for a lot of money and than have to build him up as well.

I still that that the odds are in your favor to take the proven fighter and use him. It takes YEARS to get a truely unknown and untested fighter ready to be a household name. You can get one that is, just not so much in this country, and start to showcase him. Hell, look at Anderson Silva, he turned in to a superstar with two quick fights.
There is no reason to think that it can't happen again.
Now that the LWD is taking off get a Charles Bennett or a Gomi. I would love to see these guys in the UFC. Some of the most exciting fighters out there.
