Is there a point behind this trilogy....
especially since Rampage lost to Wanderlei twice already? We already know Wanderlei is the better fighter judging from the last two bouts without any controversy. So what is the point of this fight?

It's a bad matchup for Rampage. Looks like no warm up fight for him before he rechallenges.
The UFC threw him into the lions mouth. It doesn't look like they want him coming back at Forrest any time soon.

I think I would actually give this fight to Rampage even though he lost the first two times they have fought

I also give Page a better chance this time around, but not enough to beat Wand.
Don't you guys remember Wand putting Page through the ropes, ****in out cold. Thats the point of the match-up, Someone is going down hard

Has this fight been confirmed? If so, I just shot my load. That is gonna be a sweet card. I have Wand in this one, but I wouldn't count out Rampage. I think he has gotten over the whole Juanito/delirium/high speed chase. His boxing is loads better then it was 3 years ago, and he hits harder then anyone in the division. So he definetly has a shot at redemption here. Anyways who cares if Wand won the first two, it is still one helluva exciting match up.

Because those last two fights didn't take place in the UFC.
Both fighters need to prove that they deserve a shot at the title.

Not official press release as of yet but both Rampage and Wanderlei have agreed to the fight and Rampage has already started his training camp for the fight on UFC 91.
As for the original post this fight is to pump up wanderlei or get Rampage back up to a title fight, moreso the former but the latter isnt really a bad thing either. Furthermore Wandy is below Rampage in the rankings and what better way for him to show hw sould be above Rampage then to pull out the hat trick in front of the UFC fans. For the Rampage side of things he is widely considered a different fighter from the last fight and has improved his game considerably since then to become an elite fighter as opposed to just a mid tier guy like he was in pride.

I think it's worth seeing a third fight. This isn't Tito-Shamrock III, Rampage has a much better chance at winning this third fight than Shamrock did in his third fight against Tito. While that fight between Tito and Shamrock set records, it was a mismatch even before the fight took place and was a crappy fight. I expect a good fight between Rampage and Wandy as both guys have experienced a lot since their last fights, they aren't the same guys since they last fought. I'm pumped to see this.

+Rep, pretty much what I was thinking. Rampage is bigger name than Wandy for casual fans, and matching Wandy up against Rampage instead of about anyone else that is ranked above him means most for his career and possible title fight eventually.
For Rampage a victory against either Shogun or Wandy is pretty much best way to get back to title picture because both have destroyed him before. Looks like UFC wants Shogun vs. Franklin fight to happen next though so Shogun vs. Rampage has to wait.
Excluding Griffin and Evans, other than Wandy, Machida or Shogun, who else actually "matters" to Rampage right now?
