John McCain: "They've cleaned up MMA but it's still not my favorite sport"
http://www.mmaforum.com/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=5
John McCain Talks "Ultimate Fighting" On ESPN SportsCenter
On MMA: "It's something that American people like to view. The first shots I remember seeing of initially Ultimate Fighting Championship was a guy bashing his head into an opponent's face that was literally unconscious. Now, they've cleaned it up. It's not my favorite sport, but I think they're in compliance now with most of the things we would approve of."
Good interview, glad to see he looks at it in a good way now. At least he didn't see the Silva vs Jardine fight. lol

I don't expect older people to like, or even acknowledge mma. I've watched a few cards when I was visiting my dad, and he was like, "what are they doing just laying on the ground? I don't get it." Thats the extent of his interest, lol. Atleast McCain isn't calling it cockfighting anymore .

It does. He did his best to be politcally correct. And in his comments he did not down talk any form of MMA.
I watched the interview myself. It is a good step for mixed martial arts. I don't hate Mcain for it.
He embraced the MMA lifestyle by not speaking against it. If you understand politics you'll know that he could have been alot more aggresive on the subject.

Hey don't say older peoples interest isn't there. My dad (63) is almost as big a fan as I am!
Though generally you're right, they didn't grow up with it, and it's definitely not it's not aimed at that generation.

You have to wonder if this is politics or he really does think of it better now. Still not going to vote for him!
