Anderson Silva to retire next year, according to him.

It's hard to argue against Silva's accomplishments and boredom with the landscape, but how many mega fights at 205lbs might we be missing if Silva retires? And is this too soon given his age? Shocking developments to say the least.

He better not.

Looks like we are going to have another Frank Shamrock moment.
I can't blame Anderson there is noone in the UFC at 185 he needs to beat.
And honestly there's no clear guy outside of the UFC either I mean maybe if Lawler and Lindland fought the winner of that would be a guy he should beat but that's about it.

So he's not one of those "I fight because I love it" guys? Shame.

Even if he wouldn't go for the belt at 205lbs because of Machida being there, I'd still like to see him have some superfights. Guys like Chuck, Shogun, Wand and Rampage.

I really hope this isn't true, he should keep fighting for the fans. I'd really be disappointed, I mean, yeah he's beaten Franklin, Marquardt, and Henderson the big 3 at middleweight, but there are still lots of guys for him to fight at 185 and 205.

Hard to argue with his logic, but as a fan, that sucks balls.

Looks like the middleweight division is cursed. First Shamrock now this! From now on, the MW division is officially hexed with black magic!

It's a damn shame. I bet he'll be back after his "retirement" though. Look at Randy...He proved that come-back fights sell. So relax. He'll probably retire, come back after a year or two, get payed a lot, and then retire at an appropriate age.

I think he's more of a "I fight because I love competition" guys. At the moment, there just really isn't any competition in the UFC MW division. Although I'm sure you could make a point of there being plently of competition at 205.
