Now this fight isn't one probably half of the forum have thought about but trust me it is probably the best match up talent wise on this card.

David Baron vs Jim Miller.

David Baron is a guy some of the international MMA guys know. He actually just beat Sakurai and he fought Gomi not to long ago.

And he's fighting one of the best young LW's in MMA.

Jim Miller has one loss to Frankie Edgar and is an amazing ground fighter. In fact he dominanted a good IFL fighter in Bart Palaszewski.

Personally I think Miller will be a LW contender in the next year so I'm picking him but both of these guys are good enough to compete with the top LW's in the UFC and this match up is IMO a big deal.

Bump for the fights tommorow. Baron vs Miller will be a top notch ground battle I picked it to end in round 1 but the more I think about it the more I think it'll go 3 rounds and really open some eyes. Baron is a great LW and Miller is one of the best prospects in the UFC LW divison.

I'm pretty sure Carwin will pound Wain in aobut 30 seconds or less.

Wain likes to slug but Carwin is better at it then him.

These guys just aren't known enough for me to be that excited about it. Fighting and losing to Gomi doesn't really make one a top fighter, lots of people lose to top fighters all the time, and so far Sakurai is his only top win. IMO neither of these guys is a true contender in the stacked LW division with the likes of BJ, Frankie Edgar, Tyson Griffin, Joe Stevenson, Florian, Huerta etc. I'm sure they're good, but there's so much talent at LW, these guys are way down the ladder for me to get that excited about. Bisping Vs Leben is wayy more exciting, especially considering the whole new and matured Chris Leben angle.

He's also beaten Mach Sakurai in his last fight.

Jim Miller has only one loss and it was a close one to Frankie Edgar. And has had some good wins.

Trust me both these guys are fantastic talents and can hang with the top guys.

Dunno, I'll take your word for it. Miller's wins have been a bunch of nobodies with < 50% win rates, with the exception of Palaszewski who is a decent but not top fighter. And he lost his only fight against a top competitor Edgar. I'm sure they're talented and exciting, but to call this the best matchup at the whole event seems a little stretch based on personal preference.

Look at the other fights.

Bisping doesn't really have any top wins.

Leben is a good brawler.

Vera looked horrible at 205 in his last fight.

Jardine got trashed in 2 of his last 3.

UFC 89 doesn't have a lot of good match ups and this one is very good.

A top LW prospect against a very proven international LW.

good points, but actually all those factors make the match-ups so good. There are unknown factors and a lot of specualtion about the Jardine Vera fight.
Leben Bisping seems like a match that should be close. Both matches have the potentital to be close and well fought.

But for some people a good matchup to someone has to include a top 3 name, in that case these fights will not appeal. That also precludes any enjoyment form most fight cards- because rarely is it going to be pre-dominately all top notchers. But this is understandable, big names do attract a lot of attention and draw a crowd. I get more excited about those matches as well, and they help draw me in, but I found that ultimately I like the close well-fought match of the card best, regardless of who fought.

As far as the LW debate goes- i think they are no more talented than any other weight class. Actually harder to watch because hey have no finishing power in their strikes. Yes they are light and fast, but but there is generally more lay and pray and endless grappling than a fight at higher weightclasses.
If you like fast transitions and grappling, then LW can look good. At a lot of amateur promotions I think the LW's break up the usualy nicely with a display of more ground and grapple, even though most of the audience think they are boring.
But more talent? No- that's just promoting something with useless babble. ANd there is a lot of announcing to put things over the top, very a la pro-wrestling.

They are interesting but these two LW's are fun to watch. They match up perfectly and at the end of it we will have a new contender at LW.

And just look at it. There is a lot more depth at LW then there is at other weight classes.

Name another divison that has strong divisons in Dream, WVR, Strikeforce, and UFC.

IDK Jdun Miller is a real solid young fighter.

The guy has real good grappling and I'm interested to see who can control the fight on the ground.
