Id give Maia the opportunity, hes on a good roll, ok might not yet have many wins yet in the UFC but IMO would be a far more viable opponent for a good matchup with Silva.
Its not that i dont think Cote is a cotender its just i really think its an unrealistic shot for him, he barely held his own against "big dog" and lets face it Silvas going to roll right through him.

Donald Cerrone

ive said it before.... the only think able to beat A.Silva @ MW atm is insane BJJ. the poof that he cant be beaten at the moment in standup has been shown to us time and time again. his fights arent even fun to watch anymore, its always the same..... they start feeling eachother out ( silvas opponent always a little nervous ) , a swing and some legkicks tries to hit silva then silva connects and its over.

So why Cote ? Well why not, atm it doesnt really matter ho fights him cuz they get f'up anyho.

I'll laugh even harder when security pins him down and gives the title back to its rightful owner.

cote definitely earned this title shot though. he may not be the most technical fighter in the world, but he's winning fights and thats all that really matters.

<--- the punch that started it all!

My current favirote fighters
Anderson Silva
Junior Dos Santos
Mauricio Rua
Alistair Overeem
Jon Jones

WAR dan hardy, paul daley, ross pearson and terry etim doing it for the britz!

I have no disrespect for cote in fact i kinda like the man, but I would almost put all my credits on the line saying Bisping would whip Cote so would henderson. But what the hell everyone likes dishing out 55 bones to watch cote in the main event........Dont they?

I don't like this matchup either, I wish they'd have set up Maia vs. Coteand sent Silva to beat up Houston Alexander or something, but the UFC is not giving Silva an easy matchup lol. It's hardly like he has been being protected.

Technically, Silva's precision striking is lightyears ahead of Cote's, and while Patrick does have power he lacks for in terms of technique. Silva has proven the worth of his chin after eating two massive overhand rights from Hendo and simply taking one step back. He also can't let Silva dictate the pace early, Cote needs to rush him in hopes of landing a potent haymaker and at the very least stagger him in the process. Either way, this fight should end in spectacular fashion.

Suizida tried to tell me that Jardine's Techno viking monkey style was too much for Vera's overhyped skills but i was to busy nuthugging to listen to 'the truth'

Who else would they have him fight? There is no one in the UFC MW division right now that is more deserving than Cote.

Maia is no where near ready for a title shot so that was a terrible example.

Maia only had two wins (over Ryan Jensen and Ed Herman) when Cote got the shot so he wasn't even in the mix. Now he is in the mix with his win over McDonald and if he beats Nate Quarry he will definitly be in title contention.

I've got Cote in this fight. People really are underestimating him. He hits like a mat truck and has a chin of granite. He has never been KOed or even really rocked and he has taken bombs. He is going to surprise a lot of people.
