Brocks cardio

I've seen a few off the cuff remarks about this... And obviously thereís not to much to go off of.

So letís start with facts, or just strong opinions I feel everyone can agree on:

Lesnar was able to compete in college at near the same size he is at now, with strong cardio, and has never really had any time off (I am considering his WWE stint, as with that much movement there has to be some cardio required).

We have only seen him go the distance once, and it was not an extremely active fight.

Brock does have a HUGE amount of muscle he needs to supply oxygen to.

Brock trains with/like Sean Sherk
So. After re-watching the Lesnar Herring fight, from beginning to end, and Lesnar's movements afterwards, Iíve came to the conclusion that he really wasnít gassed, or even close to it. He appeared to me as a man coming off a adrenalin rush from his first win in the Octagon, a convincing on at that, and in front of his hometown.

I do want to know what everyone else thinks.

Was Brock Lesnar gassed after his three round domination of Heath Herring?

look at the spring he has in the first exchange where he drops herring w/ the punch...he looks so light on his feet and explosive, and used great technique w/ the bombing right hand....

the standup exchanges we saw him in towards the end of the fight were not as good....

was he "gassed"? no. was he noticeably tired? yes. was the fight really that action packed? no, it mostly had brock riding on herring, where he should be able to conserve alot of energy.

his cardio will have to better against randy, cuz his cardio is great

It wont matter this former Pro Wrestling WORLD champ should only need 2 rounds to take out little Randy

Major wins:

defeated Paul Orndoff by pin

defeated Hulk Hogan by countout

defeated SD Jones at WrestleMania 1 in fastest time in Mania history

Brock looks like he has good cardio. He dominated without lookin tired in the extanges on the ground and standing. Nothing has made me question his wind yet.

After round 1 he looked ok but he wasn't gassed. However he didn't look to have great cardio.

Now for the amount of damage he did I think he needs to improve his cardio but he's not Lutter or anything.

I think his cardio is excellent especially for his size, will it be enough for 5 rounds? Don't know but for three rounds his cardio is excellent.

Good post, its Brocks cardio that has me so impressed (in addition to his speed, strength and agility).
For such a large person to have such a big engine (cardio vascular ability) is rare.
Like you said having to supply blood to all that tissue and feed all that muscle mass is a big demand on your cardio. Most people think that the size of your heart and lungs is proportional to your body size but this just isnít true.
Gaining weight, even if itís muscle mass is a BURDEN on your cardio.

I think he could cut some size and still be just as dominating in wrestling but improve his striking and submissions (along with flexibility).

Iím guessing his training includes tons of anaerobic threshold work and intervals, I Sherk does this and heís a cardio freak.

He wasnt gassed, but I also dont think he was that active on the ground since Herring pretty much jus layed there and took it. So I'm reserving judgement until I see him in a real grind of a fight.
