Travis Lutter: Cote is going to get murdered
Quote:
Earlier this month, former UFC fighter Travis Lutter told MMARated.com that he was still unsure as to where and when he would be fighting next.
"I might have to take a fight on a smaller show just to get my name out there and build up my career again," Lutter said. "It's a little frustrating that my career has stalled."
Lutter was released from the company following a loss to Rich Franklin at UFC 83.
A couple weeks later, Sherdog.com reported that Lutter was making his Octagon return at UFC 92 against Joe Doerksen.
Or not.
"That was never true," Lutter told us today. "I'm hoping to make it back to the UFC at some point, but right now I'm not under contract with the UFC.
"I talked to (UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva when the rumors came out and he knew nothing about it. I don't know how these things get started."
While Lutter didn't believe the rumor when he heard it, he did admit that, for a brief second, he got excited over the prospect of returning to the UFC.
"I don't know who started it," Lutter said. "I just know that I had nothing to do with. It's all just craziness.
"I'm no closer to returning to the UFC, but also no further away, so it's a good day."
The former TUF 4 middleweight winner still has his sights set on a January 2009 return to action. He expects to win a couple of fights outside of the UFC and then make his return later in the year.
"It's just a matter of time, the way I look at it," Lutter said confidently. "The 185-pound division needs me."
And what about UFC 90's main event between champion Anderson Silva and Patrick Cote? Of course, Lutter was the last man to defeat Cote and was probably Silva's most difficult test in the UFC.
"Cote is going to get murdered," Lutter predicted. "Anderson Silva is really, really good and Cote is basically a Leben a fight for Anderson."

I'm hoping Cote makes this fight interesting but I feel Lutter is right! Your thoughts?

I just can't see any viable way for Cote pulling off the upset, barring the event where he rushes Silva early and lands a few sudden haymakers that happen to faze him. Otherwise, Anderson has him beat in technique, accuracy, footwork and has just as sturdy a jaw.

I don't know that Cote will win but i don't see him getting murdered. Cote has a solid chin and a great corner.

Leben came in cocky and for some reason figured he could KO Anderson in the 1st. Not a good strategy as we all saw.
Cote im sure will have a gameplan, he's not going to come in and try turn it into a slugfest as im sure he understands Silva is the superior striker.
So while i do believe Silva will win, no I don't agree with Lutter comparing this fight to the Leben one.

Agree 100%!!! Cote has Mark Delagrote in his corner and he's always got great game plans.

Maybe Lutter should work on his cardio and worry about his small show career rather than insult Cote. Cote is probably working very hard for this once in a lifetime opportunity and all that Lutter can say is that he is a Leben. If Lutter would have worked a little harder on his cardio he might be a decent fighter. I have a lot more respect for a guy that works his ass off and loses rather than a guy that has a ton of talent and is just flat out too lazy to put the work in.

Hmmm. In Lutter's mind, if he couldn't finish the fight, no one else can. So clearly Cote is going to get murdered. I think Cote may lose, but at least he's going to be better prepared than Lutter.

First off, Lutter is a douche bag and not a real fighter IMO. He doesnt take the sport seriously and he thinks he can just show up and win. The middleweight division needs him? hell no. No division needs a bland, boring, out of shape, dude who despite having looked horrible as of late still believes he is a contender. Lutter became very replaceable to the UFC when they brought in Demian Maia who is taking the sport serious, trying to improve, has made it past the first round without passing out, and has better bjj than Lutter.
As far as his comments. Very true. Barring Cote Matt Serraing Silva he will probably get outclassed and he is just a guy to fight Silva right now because they have no other real contender. But either way, Cote has won strung together some fights and even though it is because of the state of the MW division right now being weak, he has at least earned his shot at Silva.

All Cote has to do is make weight and he's closer to taking Andersons title than Lutter ever was......

I'll start listening to Lutter as soon as he stops double fisting Yoo-Hoos, eating an entire carton of Ding-Dongs and actually gets his fatass in shape.
Dude it's been months since the Ace fight and you still haven't managed to roll your fatass into some ring/cage anywhere?!?
The MW division needs Lutter like I need to see a girl on girl porno with Rosie O'Donnell and Roseanne Barr goin' at it.
PS- Don't forget Travis the buffet at Pizza Hut will be closing down in 30 minutes- carb up tubby!
