Yea so? I've never liked him because I've never thought he was THAT good. God forbid I have my own opinion.
Anyway, you think he's good. I don't. That's all there is to it.

I'm only belittling him in the striking department. He's a good stand-up fighter, but I still think that many guys in the UFC would beat him.

Just because it is labeled a Split Decision, don't think it was a close fight. Melendez rocked Guida's shit for 5 rounds.
Melendez's fight with Ishida was pretty close though, but Josh Thomson throughly beat him. I do kinda agree with you tho, I think Melendez would be pretty damn small for the UFC's LW division and may get outpowered by the bigger guys like Maynard and Sherk. But he is an elite grappler and could hold his own. Plus, it is another Top 10 LW to fight BJ.

He's a talented and excited fighter. I think he could add some depth to the LW division.

Completely ignoring the fact that it was split, I just didn't think it was as decisive as everyone makes it out to be. And as for his place in the UFC LW division, I don't see him fitting in very well. As you've mentioned, he's too small for some of the bigger dudes there. And even if he is another top 10 LW for BJ to fight, I think BJ takes it rather easily. I guess he would make for some good fights, though.

I don't think any of those guys would destroy Melendez. Hell, I think Melendez would beat Guida again and give the rest trouble. Tyson vs Melendez would be banana's.
Thomson's mad underrated. Dude beat melendez, but that doesn't mean Melendez is overrated and such.

Honestly I think the fact people are thinking Melendez is overrated is because Thomson is a real good fighter and people don't know it.
I don't like Thomson much but the guy is a beast and he would do real well in the LW divison.
Damn there is so much depth in the LW divison it's crazy.
I mean Dream, WVR, Strikeforce, and the UFC all have great LW divisons.
And Elite XC has Alvarez, Diaz, and Noons.
God I love LW's now.

I wasn't a huge fan of the UFC LW's for awhile because they couldn't finish. But then I realized I was being stupid and I love them now.

There's a few that can't finish but even if they can't finish they still put on exciting matches for 3 rounds. The LW division has some of the most depth and to me is the most exciting division.
