Arona bets on Wanderlei Silva

Without fighting since April 2007, Ricardo Arona has been following the MMA events since then, specially the UFC, where his Pride time rival, Wanderlei Silva, is coming from a great victory against Keith Jardine. “I have said before that if Wanderlei gets to the fight hungry, he’d knock Jardine out quickly. Jardine’s style is something I like to face, I go there and take him down when I want to, and I knew that’s the perfect game for Wanderlei too. Jardine came closer to him and that were the perfect fight for Wanderlei, Keith has no game to defeat him”, said Arona, who analyzed Silva’s next fight in UFC, against his Pride time rival, Quinton Rampage Jackson.

“Quinton is a great fighter, but only when he’s doing well in the fight. When he fights someone like me or Wanderlei he doesn’t like it, tries the takedowns and get lost. Wanderlei needs to do the same gameplan, doesn’t need to change anything. Quinton has a ******* hand, if he hits you, you’ll feel it, but it’s the perfect game for Wanderlei”. Preparing his back to the rings for 2009, Ricardo Arona had a long chat with TATAME and spoke about the event proposals he received, Brazilian Top Team, UFC, his rivals and a lot more. The result of this exclusive chat you can check in TATAME’s October issue. Stay tuned!

I believe they dislike each other but have mutual respect. Or they just disliked eachother during the Chute Boxe/BTT dispute and now WAND left Chute Boxe, so...

I dont like Arona at all, but as a fighter.. hes so freaking aggressive on the takedowns, and ill repeat myself, but Arona in the UFC = murder... If he isnt too rusty.. Thats the only big factor coming in.. Hes got HUGE flaws, thats for sure, but IF he gets somebody down, he will crush some people, trust me.

He has to keep that freaking chin down and learn to strike a little better, but other than that..

and I think he just hates Rampage more than he hates Silva, thats all... after all, he did get slammed headbutted.

Bring back knees strikes on grounded opponents.. Give me good arguments for not having them for crying out loud.

I think there was some sort of incident at breakfast with Wand and Arona. Whatever it was, it's nice they made up. I wonder if Arona holds any grudge against Jackson for the slam though. Adding Arona to the already immensely talented UFC LHW division would be insane.
