In his brief career he has succeeded in every takedown attempt and he was d1 national champ in college. The guy has great takedowns and takedown defense. Its that simple. He will never have good submissions but you act like in order to be great you must have great subs which is ridiculous. The only kind of bjj training he needs is how to defend subs and I believe he definitely has the capacity to do so. I am not going to overrate his striking like many Lesnar fans but I as a huge Lesnar fan will not undermine him. There is limited evidence of what he can and cannot do in the striking game so while I wont overhype it because of a punch, I also will not assume all of these people will beat him in the standup. There is also one other small glimpse of striking capability in the HH fight though. Go to either the second or third round and they will be in the clinch and Lesnar only needs to land one knee before Herring just completly buckles and collapses under his weight. This I believe shows extraordinary power in his legs to go with his upper body strength and finally to the person who kept saying Lesnar was pathetic for not finishing Herring with GnP that was only cuz he was too nervous of getting caught like in the Mir fight. He will get over that and start finishing people eventually cuz he would have finished Mir had it not been for his getting caught by making a rookie mistake he prob wont make again.
If you are going to make points about a 3 fight career please be correct.

Lesnar's first takedown attempt in round 2 against Herring got stuffed by the guy with possibly the worst takedown defense in the HW divison.

You are right to say the first takedown in the second round failed so my bad for forgetting it but it didn get stuffed the cage got in the way and there was nowhere for Lesnar to go with the takedown.

You can get a takedown against the cage.

And Herring shut Brock's shot down it wasn't just the cage.

I just figured the big media would pick up this fight as it gets closer. ESPN etc. Randy hasn't always been a draw but put him with Lesnar and I believe they can draw huge. There's all sorts of ways to hook people on this fight. Vet v. Rookie, Huge v. small, age v. youth, Rocky v. Drago.

A lot of my casual MMA buddies are like "OH MY GOD, Get the f*ck out." When I tell them.

Randy will sell alot better then he did with Tim Sylvia and GG.
Well I am probably the wrong person to ask because with my answer everybody will just be calling me a Brock hater.

So that pretty common knowledge - as usual - doesn't really mean anything.
Part of takedown defense is being able to get right back up, and Gonzaga did that very well, especially when you consider who he was fighting. And really, do you think it would be in Lesnar's best interests to take Gonzaga down?

Who said anything about top tier wrestling skill? He's obviously not going to depend on his wrestling to win fights, I was just pointing out that saying he has "no takedown defense whatsoever" is just incorrect.

yeh he has takedown defense, but he's lost in the clinch and he hasn't shown much offense from his back...mind you he hasn't been there much

Gonzaga actually has horrible boxing, Nog would completely COMPLETELY tool him in the boxing department, Gonzaga has powerful kicks, this is all. He doesn't have "better" standup than Nog. No chance.

Pure BJJ wise Gonzaga is probably better than Nog for sure, this is MMA BJJ though. Nog vs. Werdum was fairly close when it comes to MMA BJJ(From what I remember)
Gonzaga certainly wouldn't work Nog.

Sure Gonzaga would be much more of a threat with better cardio, but he certainly wouldn't "Do whatever he wants with Nogueira"

But this is my opinion, and yours is yours.
