Werdum has great, great jitz, better than Gonzaga. His jits is the best in the world at the HW division. But he isnt as physically strong as Gonzaga and that is why he couldnt really use that to his advantage when he faught Nog the first time. Gonzaga being so heavy on top would have an easier time controlling Nog on the gound than Werdum would. Thats what I meant when I was speaking of Gonzaga's top game. I think he could sorta use Fedor's gameplan when he faught Nog the first time. Just use his stregnth advantage, stay in Nog's guard, use his bjj skills to stay out of submissions and just tee off on Nog with elbows nad punches. He probably wouldnt finish Nog but I think he would win a decision if it were a 3 rounder.

Werdum is a strong guy now the first time they fought he wasn't as strong he has actually put on 10 pounds since his UFC debut.

You compared it to Nog vs Fedor but it's a lot more like Gonzaga vs Werdum. On the ground it should be a stalemate. Gonzaga doesn't have top notch GnP. And standing Gonzaga's hands aren't very good and Nog should just be able to outstrike him.

Nog's striking is overrated. Gonzaga has proven KO power and mean leg licks. If this were to stay standing Nog would get worked.

Edit: Until GG gasses for no apparent reason

Werdum tooled Gonzaga standing.

Gonzaga has leg kicks that's it. His hands are horrible.

Nogueira would pound him standing.

How is Nogueira's striking over-rated? His boxing is very clean, and he's only ever really been outstruck by guys who are mainly strikers---something Gonzaga thinks he is, but isn't.

That's what I see as well. All Nogueira would have to do is train for the leg kicks, once he picked out Gonzaga's pattern like Werdum did, Gonzaga would take a thrashing.

Has Nog ever finished anyone with his strikes?? He has pretty good hands, thats it.

Maybe I gotta watch the Werdum fight again cuz I remember Gonzaga controlling the standup until he gassed.

Why do people think Gonzaga gassed?

He was fine in round 2 until Werdum landed a huge knee on him.

Werdum was landing punches at will in both round 1 and round 2.

All Gonzaga did was land powerful legkicks.

This fight is a toss up. I would give the edge to whoever comes out the most aggressive.

He TKO'd Nastula, and KO'd Sanae Kikuta. Yeah, he hasn't finished a lot of people with strikes, but a lot of his fights have been won through keeping the fight on the feet, and outscoring his opponents with strikes. Look at his fight with Werdum for example, he won that fight based on his boxing with a few knockdowns.
