i gotta gp with hughes off his record. there is no denying the guy is a stud. i think bj can beat him again though. and gsp has a good shot aslong as he doesnt get caught in a sub.

MATT HUGHES; Based on power, improvement in skills, sheer dominance of the weight class and always stepping up to fight when challenged ie; when Joe Riggs didn't make weight, he got punished with a Kimura; Frank Trigg kicks him in the seeds, MH chokes him out; when BJ Penn bloodied his face; MH crucified him and finishes with selbows; Royce Gracie tells the world that BJJ rules and UFC is his house, MH puts the lights out in the Gracie house with strikes.

Look how much he's improved from his first UFC fights up to now. I'm a big GSP fan and think he has the best shot at taking the title but until then, Matt Hughes is the best. (In My HUmble opinion of course)

I don't care what the record shows, nor will I make excuses for Penn. But as someone said in another thread, "a motivated Penn would be unbeatable."

Penn was completely out of shape for his fight against GSP. The worst I've seen him. He looked winded just walking into the octagon lol GPS didn't see the real Penn. He has a raw natural talent.

I voted For GSP i believe hes the future of the Welterweight Division.

Matt Hughes is the most dominant Welterweight in UFC history but when your at the top theres only one way to go and thats down his reighn as king is coming to an end.

BJ Penn is undoutable one of the most talented fighters in the world but unfortunately theres no garantee we will see the best of BJ there doesnt seem to be any consistency with him which is a shame he couldve gone down in MMA history.

The best fighter steps up and overscomes all challenges. BJ PEnn is IMPRESSIVE, no argument there but I dion't think he can be the best with such a mixed bag of performances.

Well, Hughes has proven himself to be the most dominate so far but I really think GSP is going to win in November. I picked GSP because like I said, I believe he will take the belt and keep it for a long time.

Penn is probably the most well rounded fighter in the whole sport. He beats Hughes if he doesnt get injured and he beat the living crap out of GSP and got hosed on the decision. As it was previously stated...it doesnt matter what the record shows, Penn is the best WW/LW in the UFC...or anywhere else for that matter.

I won't knock BJ's skills, he has them. But a big part of being the best WW is being able to BEAT the others. BJ did not beat the living crap out of GSP. The first round was his (thanks to an eye poke and a clipped tip of the nose). Then GSP squeecked out the 2nd round and dominated the 3rd. Hughes did lose the first fight, it was funny to watch. He did lose the first round of the second fight. But the rib injury to BJ cost him big.

I would say GSP is the best right now, and all he has to do is beat MH to prove it to the world.
