I personally think that Tank Abbott is way more overrated then Ken Shamrock is. Ken Shamrock used to be a great fighter i dont see how that could be overrated.
Im going to say something and hopefully no one gets cranky but, what if Randy couture gets manhandled by Lesnar, fights Fedor gets destroyed, fights Nog same results. That would make him 16 wins 11 loses does that sound like a legend? I dont know.
Ken, at least, used to be talented. Tank has always sucked, but the guy has been in some great fights and could pull out the fun performance every once in a while. Still, it's Tank freakin' Abbott, the guy's cardio was shit and he got punched in the face a lot. Ken Shamrock gave us the Lions Den, which was the greatest camp ever. Dude gets props over here.
But, holy shit, if we're talking fighters whose fights are overrated, you have to give it to Dan Severn. That guy has been in some of the worst fights ever. Then again, so has Ken Shamrock.

Severn has some of the most BORING fights ever. Hes pretty talented though.
to answer the question i would have to go with Tank Abbott although ive never considered him as a "legend" though, hes more of a "well known " fighter imo :dunno:
and whos saying Ken Shamrock ?!?! hes is very much a legend, just should have stopped fighting a long time ago... thats all
I wouldn't call Tank the most overrated UFC legend today, because most people realize that he wouldn't have a chance against a modern MMA fighter even if he was in his prime.
My vote goes to Royce Gracie. There are still people who says he would have submitted most current UFC fighters with ease. Come on, the guy submitted fighters who didn't know there was such a thing as ground game, but still deliberately took him down with their boxing gloves and shoes on. He's got exactly one submission win since the early UFCs, and his wrestling and standup is a joke.

Gotta agree with this. The Hughes loss killed some of the mystique, but much or it remains.
So many people still think he could be dropped into UFC at 170 or 185 and dominate when in fact his return would be as big an embarrassment as Abbott's was.
You will still have stubborn folk out there that will disagree all day for some reason. Hes the michael Jordan of BJJ the BabeRuth of BJJ or what other analogies you would like to make. Simply put hes the shiznit of BJJ. Simply second to know hands down.
Hell yeah he is, gotta love the guy. He took on all challengers and beat some great fighters.
Long live Rickson Gracie, the manliest man I know. The guy took out Takada twice. He's the only guy to do that. Takada beat Mark Coleman, you know. Yep, tapped him with a leg-lock. Rickson also beat a one-eyed Yuki Nakai, who is the best BJJ trainer today. He also beat Yoshihisa Yamamoto. It took him a while, but he still beat him.
I buddy of mine trained with him for years in Brazil and said the guy was a fricken animal. So unbelievably strong. He also said he would train with Royce and his siblings with one are behind his back to make it fair.
I don't really like it when people compare fighters of the past and how they would handle the ring in the present day. Royce was an excellent fighter in his day, he just didn't evolve that much with the sport. He relied too much on his Jitz and didn't train for anything else. He did what he had to do when the sport began, and without Royce, it's fair to say that the modern day MMA scene would still be in it's infancy today.
Tank was overrated back then, people used to think he was ard, he was pretty ard, but not that ard. He is not overrated whatsoever now. I'd say the guy is a legend. He helped bring people into the sport. You watch a Tank Abbott fight, you want to come back for more. Especially when he tries to throw somebody out of the cage.
If this was MMA, i'd say Rickson because as Damone says, some crazy people still think he would do well today. People don't think that about Royce.
Yeah, I totally agree. He may be one of the most talented all around ground fighters in history, but a LOT of his MMA performances were subpar to say the least. Legend? Yes. MMA God? NO!!!
Id have to say Tank. Even back in the day he was way over rated. He tried to portrait himself as the ultimate tough guy but lacked just about everything to back it up.
Dan Severn is a close second for me. That guy was as boring as hell. Who can ever forget that snoozefest with Ken Shamrock at UFC 9.

Tank is probably overrated, yes. But I still like him. I don't think he cares who he fights or when. And he's entertaining to watch, at least he is to me lol.
Gotta go with Tank too, he was Kimbo first. I was a big fan of his back in the day though.
Of current day fighters I would have went with Lidel, but people aren't over rating him as much now so I say Couture. He won a couple fights people thought he was going to lose, but it's pretty much over for Randy now.
I think that you obviously have to say Tank Abbott. He really has no skills, and he had a bad record in the Old school UFC. Severn was a talented wrestler who never really learned anything else, but still could control some guys on the ground. Ken Shamrock is important not only as a fighter, but as a figure in MMA. If he would have stayed retired, which he should have, he would have remained that. While his skills wouldn't stand up against the fighters of today, he was someone that helped bring mma to an American audience. I think the same argument can be applied to Royce Gracie. Even though Rickson is the better of two, Royce took BJJ to the American audience. I think the problem with these guys is that we are comparing them to the fighers of today. You can't do that. It would be like comparing Jim Brown to today's NFL. Could he just run over the linebackers of today? Of course not, but it doesn't diminish what he did during his time.
I'd have to say Tank Abbott... loser of 8 of his last 9 fights.
