This is very sad for me. Anderson is such a great competitor in every aspect of the game.

I hope the UFC is smart about it. I think they should play on it, and do a "countdown" of Anderson remaining bouts over the next year or so. And give him some great fights. I don't know if Cote counts as one of his six fights, but I would love to see it go like this.

Cote (MW Title Defense)
Liddell (LHW Super Fight)
Okami (MW Title Defense, hopefully he'll be back)
GSP (Whatever weight class superfight)
Maia (MW Title Fight, I'm predicting he'll earn a shot by then)
Forrest Griffin (LWH Title Shot, this would be a major fight where I think most people would call the Champ the Underdog... and assuming Anderson still has his middle weight title would retire a double champion) Leaving the UFC able to promote a big unheld title fight for the Middleweight and LHW titles.

This is just my idea, and I think it would be a great and deserving way for Anderson to go out, but hey I'll admit it... Spider nuthugger here.

Godspeed Anderson

This is pretty stupid on Anderson's part. I can see where he has nothing to prove and wants to go out on top but he's in his prime right now. Why wouldn't you keep fighting?

Anderson is the most unbeatable champion since Frank so it makes sense that he is going out on top like Frank.

Although I wish he wouldn't it's his choice.

I will say I think Cote has a better chance now because Anderson doesn't seem like he is as focused as he has been in the past.

I think he just really wants to fight Roy Jones Jr for what ever reason. Now don't get me wrong, RJJ is still good, but he hasn't been in his prime for a while. Just cranking out decisions now.
That's assuming all of his remaining fights are at 185.

I don't mind Anderson going out now. I'm tired of seeing athletes (especially fighters) who were great hold on for so long that their legacy takes a hit somewhat. Better to go out as the best then to go out when people feel sad for you.

I'd like to see him fight for at least 2 more years but in all honesty who is really left in the MW division that he hasn't already beaten or would actually put up a good fight? Honestly.

I think he should fight Cote, Okami and then run out his contract in the LHW division to try to capture the title.

Ah, yeah, course he did, I forgot about that.

1. They wouldn't let him fight for the LHW belt on his last fight.
2. It would leave two title fights for two titles. You couldn't fight for both of them unless you were under 185.

well that means Franklin can come back down to MW and have his reign over the division.

it's seinfeld all over again. heh heh

would rather see him fight into his mid 30s but it is what it is. He'll have a big boxing match then possibly come back a year or two later -- that's my prediction.
