****, I really don't want this to be true. I love watching Anderson fight, he's unreal. He just needs to lose so that he has something to be motivated about. I really want Cote to pull off the upset, just so we can see Anderson go on another tear.

How cool would it be if he started coaching Rich Franklin? lol

Instead of losing he could search for a challenge in the LHW and HW divisions. He hasn't beaten any legendary fighter yet, some very good ones, maybe 2 future HOFers in Franlin and Henderson.

Anderson has had this strange wish to compete in boxing for a while now. With a little luck that's what this all is about, and maybe he'll give it a try, get bored with it and get back to MMA after a year or so.

I hope I'm right, there's nobody I enjoy watching as much as him...

Oh, I forgot, the "new Anderson Silva" is going to be on this season of TUF! We're saved!

Or, maybe Dana saw Anderson sparring with Team Nogueira but didn't know he was going to be there, so he just though one of the guys on Nog's team had a strong resemblance to Silva ..?

I'll only be happy with his decision if his next 6 fights are the following

1. Cote (ugh what a waste)
2. GSP (middleweight title fight)
3. lyoto (lhw Fight)
4. W. Silva(lhw title shot fight)
5. Lhw champion (lhw title fight)
6. Fedor (HW title fight)

That way he can retire as the MW champ, LHW champ and HW champ, while having beaten the WW champ.

I cant believe he wants to quit MMA already, but he has had a long career and I wouldnt mind if he left soon than staying till a old age and keep getting beaten by cans.

It's actually not that surprising. Anderson Silva's reception among casual fans and the mainstream public in the U.S. has been, at best, lukewarm.

Despite his in-ring brilliance (nay, complete and utter domination), his lack of English speaking skills, his skin color, and the unique way in which he finishes fights (principally by kneeing his opponents into submission), seems to make it difficult for the typical, casual fight fan to embrace him fully.

Given that apparent lack of appreciation, he may be feeling a bit miffed, understandably so.

Anderson is one of the most fluent strikers the UFC has ever seen, and the MW division is going to seem empty without him. It doesn't matter who the champion is, everyone will say, "He couldn't beat Anderson." And they'll probably be right. Anderson was a gift to that division, and a gift to us, he's a fantastic fighter that no one could find boring and no one could say they hated. He's so good at what he does, and I personally hate to read that he's thinking about retiring.

why in the hell does he not move on to LHW? Machida, Griffin, Rampage, Wandy, Liddell, Evans, would be 6 interesting fights right there. He has the potential to be the best ever, why quit now.

If this is honestly true I will be sad. But on the other hand it opens up the division more. I see Marquardt being the top dog after Silva honestly.

imo this is a really stupid move.If he feels that no one at MW can beat him, he can go up to LHW.LHW has way tougher competition.

I love Andersen Silva, he's a poet. If he retires so soon, I will be very sad.
