Shane Carwin has heavy hands, ready for UFC 89
Goldberg said that he couldnt fit into Lesnars xxxxl gloves and had to get 5XLs for his hands. Imagine the beating that he could dish out with those bricks

yeah like i said in the couture vs lesnar thread, i think carwin already has the tools to be a better fighter than lesnar. his striking is way ahead and he has at least some sub knowledge. and the size difference would be negligible.

Why are bigger hands better than smaller ones.

What would you rather get smacked in the face with a 2 pound brick or a 5 pound brick.

more mass in your hand means more force in the punch, all else being equal. it's the same reason a heavy club does more damage than a lighter club.

But a smaller hand concentrates the power more of your body.

The power of a punch is just like force. Force is the mass times the acceleration. If they are thrown from the same arm a much bigger fist will have much more force than a smaller fist.

if you're breaking boards that would make a difference, but when you are talking about punching a person it doesn't help. a KO punch KO's because it shakes the brain and jars nerves. for that you want as much force as possible, how it is concentrated isn't important as long as it's a square punch.

I think Christian Wellisch would agree that a bigger fist is worse to get hit by.
Carwin is going to wreck this kid tonight and really make a statement I think
