*****SPOILERS***** Thoughts on UFC 89 *****SPOILERS*****

I thought it was a solid card.

Firstly, the Lytle v Taylor fight was quality, best fight i've seen since Guida v Huerta. Both guys deserve their fight of the night bonuses and i look forward to Lytle v Davis at UFC 94 (although i had Taylor winning this 29-28).

Next, i'm dissappointed with Sokodjou, although i've always been a big fan of Cane and wasn't suprised to see him get the upset. Sokodjou came out good, but seemed to gas after 3minutes and didn't like Cane coming at him. I hope UFC let him have one more fight though to prove himself, as i'm still a fan.

Another fighter i was dissappointed with was Vera, he seems to have lost all his aggression, and has been terrible in his last 4 fights, how the guy gets 100k a fight is shocking. Jardine looked quite good and i had him winning a pretty comfortable 29-28, i'm pleased for him.

The Davis v Kelly fight wasn't as good as i anticipated. It was a lot slower than i thought it would be, although Davis' stand-up did look crisp and he pulled out a nice submission. Kelly was very poor for the submission, i could see it coming about 15 seconds before it happened. Kelly made me laugh swearing after the fight though.

Carwin looked good stopping Wain, although Wain caught him with a punch early on. Carwin was just so much bigger than Wain, and Rogan said Brock Lesnar's gloves didn't fit him and he had to have the next size up, which is crazy. Carwins stand up didn't look as good as the Wellisch fight, but his ground and pound was great and he looks a beast.

Finally the main event, and i was really impressed with Bisping. He picked Leben apart in the fight and proved some critics wrong with the pretty dominant victory. Leben is a warrior though, and deserves a lot of credit for coming off the alcohol and training hard, and both guys made it a good fight. Both men were gentlemen after the ifhgt and both have gone up in my opinion. Leben looked sharper and fitter, but Bisping was just a little too fast for him and Leben never really managed to land his power left hand.

Overall it was a very good event, and i can't wait for 90 next week.

Events Attended: UFC 120, CWFC 45, CWFC 52

Well this is the first time I have been impressed with Bisping. I thought he stuck to his game plan and did what he had to do. Props to both fighters. Also think Leban has mature quite a bit both in fighting & his personal life. Bisping was also quite humble when asked if he was ready for a title fight.

Just when you think Davis will knock you out he pulls the submission. Good for you.

Sokodjou, I just don't know. He just can't seem to get it together-gassed too damn early. Don't know what Dana can do with him.

Matt you are right-Vera's aggression is gone. Kind of a lackluster fight I though. Oh well 1 more week until UFC 90.

Overall, not the greatest card ever, but it certainly wasn't bad either.

Firstly as an Englishman I'd like to apologise for the crowd. They just seemed like the drunken crowd you'd get a football game. MMA isn't really that big in Britain yet so I imagine the majority of the crowd didn't have a clue.

The Taylor v Lytle was great and I'm glad to have watched that. I wouldn't have been surprised to see it given either way, although I think Lytle's dominance is what gave him the clincher.

Carwin looks like he could be an absolute monster. I'm really looking forward to seeing him take on some of the big guns.

Vera just looked shit. He didn't really make any effort to do anything in that fight. Jardine was the man coming up with everything. Vera just offered nothing with his counter attack and it made for quite a boring fight, I hope he watched the Bisping fight and realised where he goes wrong.

Now Bisping v Leben was an excellent fight. It looked like it could go either way throughout. Bisping executed his game plan brilliantly but there was always the constant danger of Leben's left hand swinging in. I thought both men ended the fight well with their comments, I'd love to see Bisping take on Anderson Silva one day. I was pleased with Bisping for sure, but he will really need to work on his clinching and stopping power if he really wants to challenge Silva. The way I see it is he has the elusiveness and precision that you need but he lacks the real power to follow through with both his knees and fists, which Silva has in abundance.

Overall a 7/10 event and again, sorry for the crowd boos!

I had Taylor winning as well actually but it was very close and I wasn't shocked by the decision.

I had Vera winning 29-28 though and I was very surprised by that decision. It was close obviously but I don't see where Jardine got two rounds (I had it round 1 to Jardine, 2 and 3 to Vera). Vera looked very mediocre even though I thought he won, I don't know what he is doing. He has David Loiseau disease. Symptoms include past excitement completely disappearing for no apparent reason.

Jardine and Vera where both full of lame, with none of the aggression or confidence they've had before. Sokodjou started aggressive, but lost his heart really quickly

Sokoudjou looked good in the beginning but he really needs to improve his cardio.

I was surprised that Bisping was better on the inside than Leben. I had thought that his only way to win on the feet would be to use his reach advantage.

I loved when Rogan dissed the crowd for being so drunk after the Vera vs Jardine fight. He got booed for it, but he was right.

Rogan was sporting a killer beard tonight!

Trying to catch up with Kimbo and Tanner (R.I.P.), I suppose.

I had it 29-28 for Jardine, Vera was boring as hell while The Dean tried to push it a bit atleast and had a takedown. Vera needs to shape up or get the **** out.
