It's pretty obvious that he doesn't deserve a title shot yet. Kos and Alves are up there in the running with Diego as a possibility. Davis would need a win over one of the three to come close to a shot. And then there's also Swick who beat Davis...So he'd have to fit into the equation somewhere as well.

Apparently he and Lytle want to fight each other next. Chris is tough but not really one of the top fighters in the division, so if Marcus beats him, he still needs at least one good win before he can go for the title imo. It's just a really stacked division.

It's because Marcus Davis seems like a very respectable fighter. It seems like he understood they where not disapproving of his skills, they where just rooting for their "hometown" boy so to speak. Did you notice how once he spoke to the crowd, they began cheering for him as well. I think he earned a lot more respect from people on his attitude as well as his skills with that fight. He put on a great fight.

Now that he can actually see without his eyes being covered in blood I think he could definitely be a champion. I'm not sure if he deserves his title shot just yet, but then again neither does BJ.

Kelly's a solid prospect, but yeah, Marcus shouldn't be given a fight with the big dogs just yet. Give him someone like Lytle next and then move forward.

Davis is a classy guy. I remember the crowd booing the hell out of him after his fight with Shonie. He thanked all the troops afterwards.

If he gets what he wants then a fight with Lytle (if he wins) should get him a fight against Fitch/Koscheck/Sanchez. What about Karo? Or is he still scheduled to fight Yoshida sometime. Same issue with Serra, is he still scheduled to fight Hughes?. A fight against either of those two would be a decent matchup too.

I agree. Lytle is sort of a gatekeeper before a gatekeeper. If he can get through Lytle, then maybe he gets a shot at Kos, Diego, Thiago, or Fitch... but I think you have to beat one of if not two or three of those guys before you get GSP.

I say this noting that Marcus is my favorite out of this group of fighters, so I hope it happens.

Davis showed again last night what a class act he is - both in his performance and post fight interview. It's a pity he was carrying an injury in his fight with Swick, as we'll never know what the result would have been if he was fit, plus the loss pushed him back down the title shot queue (which at his age cant be a help). Good on him for fighting against Swick injured though I guess.

Personally think he deserves to skip Lytle in this instance, take a shot at someone else who is on a run (Koscheck, Alves, Sanchez et al) and see if he can get himself in a position for a title shot.

Agreed. I REALLY love Davis, and I never miss a fight of his. Sometimes I wonder if I don't have a man-crush on him. But I don't think he's title material.

He's got some REALLY heavy hands, can put them right on the button - and knows how to wait for his opening and make it happen. But GSP is a pretty decent dude on his feet, and has more well-rounded kicks. But more importantly, GSP has the ability to avoid the standup, take it to the ground and make Davis look like a fool there.

Defecato, ergo sum.
