Does tonight affect how we view Machida's rank as LHW. For a long time whenever the Machida's legitimacy as a top LHW, Sokoudjou is always mention as a top LHW despite how few fights he has on his record. It is unarguable that Machida has great skills. But after Sokoudjou basically got outclassed by a prospect like Cain, I don't think you can say that Machida has defeated a top 10 LHW.

i don't think he got "outclassed" by cane....he lost badly, but he won the first round...sokky just needs a better gastanka not blow his wad in the first 3 minutes..

:S Bit of a weird statement, Machida beat Sokki when he was in the top 10, so did Cane. I don't think you can look at present fights to change past matches in terms of rankings. I still think Machida's win is equally as impressive based on his performance

Of course he does, he did lose to Machida, but has KO victories over Lil Nog and Arona. Now after losing to Cane (even though he wasn't raped, but lost due to having not so good conditioning) that might drop him lower or off the top 10 light heavy Weights |

I dont think he ever deserved it personally, but no matter how you make your list he has to fall off it as rapidly as he made it and at best was never more than a paper top ten LHW on borrowed time.

Hell no he's not even close to top 10 LHW. I will never understand how ANYONE can and did consider him a top 10 or top 20...

First of all if this doesn't drop him out of the top 10, then somebody is smoking crack. In order for win over Lil Nog or Arona to put you into the top 10, I think you would have to consider them top 10 fighters. I do not and never did. To me it would be like considering Houston Alexander a top 10 LHW after his flash knockouts of Jardine and Sakara. |

Nearly every site had Arona and Rogerio Nogueira top 10 at the time of their Sokoudjou losses.
Rog Nog and Arona don't compare with Jardine and Sakara at all.

Yeah, I mean, he did destroy 2 top 10 LHW's in a row and in impressive fashion. He was top 10 when Machida faced him. Is he top 10 now? No, but he used to be.
Comparing Rogerio and Arona to someone like Alessio Sakara is just....so....wrong.
No, this doesn't affect Machida's win against Sokky. Dude completely smoked the guy.
