Seemed like Kos had some weird notion of standing for a while, and taking leg kicks doing so. Didn't seem to go for many take does for quite a while... Impressive performance by Alves, but also kind of bad. He'd hurt Koscheck and had him in trouble, at least 3 times, and never followed through. That's why this went to decision.

Thiago was very impressive. Not taking away from Thiago's performance but Kos wasn't his usual self in the wrestling degree, he wasn't running through his opponents like he usually does. Might be the 2 weeks training for him, might be scared of a knee but yeah, wasn't Kos's best performance

My personal favorite fight of the nigh. Lots of action and Kos hung in there even though I thought he was going to be knocked out several times. Alves will give GSP/Penn a good fight and I can't wait to see it. Who will Diego fight next though is my question. If he was one shot away from a title shot then who is next if it isn't Alves.

Alves looked great, definately has awesome TDD and showed how well he can strike. I'm glad he made weight so people will get off his case and concentrate on the guys skills.

Props to Kos though for fighting a guy like Alves on short notice, even Dana was congratulating Kos for a good fight considering the circumstances. He did land some great shots but Alves also seems to have a good chin.

Alves and GSP would be a sweet fight. I really hope to see it sometime in 2009.

a part of me now wants BJ to beat GSP....as Alves is a very good matchup stylistically to beat BJ Penn

There was nothing more satisfying than watching Kos get smashed in the face and legs last night, also watching his takedowns getting stuffed was a thing of beauty.

I will say this though, Kos recovery time was really fast, and he showed alot of heart in the fight.

Alves is by far the most underrated MW in the WW division. Kos did very well for two weeks notice against a guy easily 20 pounds heavier. I would really like to see these two fight again with proper training camps, the fight was good and I think it would be even better the second time around.
