He's still probably less than 10% bodyfat in that picture. We're just so used to seeing fighters at weigh-ins averaging 5% or below bodyfat due to their cutting. I think it's very well possible for him to gain to 260 if he has the right regime and strict diet, but until someone posts some pictures that are more recent, then we're just speculating.

10% bodyfat? are you kidding me? he's not even close. i'd say he's closer to 18 or 19% in the picture I gave.
and fighters would RARELY get below 5% bodyfat....i doubt many do..you could die

It's definitely dangerous, but for short term periods I can see it happening. I weight about 170 and was just tested at my gym at 9% bodyfat. I workout two or three times a week, but not anything near how hard fighters train. And personally I think I'm way fatter than most fighters in the 155-170 range. Hell, I don't even have a six pack...it's more of a small pony keg.

He was up at about 245 for the Gonzaga fight and against Vera where he needed to make sure he had some speed he was still at 245 in June.
So 15 lbs since June isn't too bad.

Putting on weight for Werdum is a very bad decision. It will only make him slower which will effect his submission game. The extra weight he puts on wont make a difference against guys who have been wrestling their whole lives and who are clearly stronger men(Lesnar,Carwin, Couture ect). Not to mention it will hurt his cardio which is always a strength of world class wrestlers and could be a factor if he fights one of them. If I was Werdum I would stay around 235,240 and just do alot of weight training to help to deal with the stronger guys in the division. As it is, he is already a bad matchup for any of those guys so why change anything? Didnt he see what happened to Ricco?

You guys kill me. You think his training camp doesn't understand how putting mass on affects a fighter? They certainly know Werdum and how his body responds better than a few fights and pictures you guys have seen.

So according to you, no fighter can ever get over weight because their camp knows everything?? Its a fighters decision if he wants to gain of lose weight. If he wants to fight at 260, his camp really has no say in it. Im sure Ricco's camp didnt want him to blow up but it happened.

Im sure Lutters would have loved him to make weight for the Silva fight to, the camps obviously dont always know best or at least have a say.

Well Frank Mir got the title shot months before Werdum beat Vera. So Werdum was 1-1 in the UFC when Mir got the shot so I don't know why he is bitching about Mir. Now Lesnar I can understand being pissed about.
