How come the UFC...
only let fighters (examples) like Henderson, Liddell, Sherk or Kongo fight only once or twice a year???
Cheick Kongo could've fought 4-5 times last year but only twice. The year is ending and he's only had 2 fights... wtf?
Dan Henderson has Fought Rampage last September, than lost to Silva in March of this year, than had to wait until September of this year to fight a Non ranked fighter. (very good one fighter btw)
What was the deal with Sean Sherk defending his title almost a year later?? 1 fight in 07.
Note that exciting fighters like Swick and Guillard fought in September 06 only to fight again in April 07.
IMO, a lot of fighters should fight at least 3-4 times a year (Ala Roger Huerta, Nate Diaz, Bisping etc. barring no injuries of course).
What do you guys/gals think?

well there are alot of reasons for those things....sherk for example had a pretty bad shoulder injury after ufc 64...which took till 73 to return...then the steriod bullshit held him off until ufc 84...now he's back on track fighting @ ufc 89

Its because Lidell isnt going to fight on Spike for Huerta's salary, its a buisiness decision, Nate, Roger arent making Henderson or Lidell's pay as for Kongo and Sherk Im not sure, could be injuries or simply the HW division isnt that packed and they simply have nobody for him to fight right now.

There also just aren't enough PPV's. Like Toxic said fighters like Hendo, Chuck, etc aren't going to fight on Fight Nights for 20K. They have to be on PPV's and fighting for 100K+ and there are so many fighters under the UFC's umbrella that they can't get them all matches 4 times a year.

I'd like to see 2 PPV's a month, one in the US and one outside the US. Most of the fighters would love to fight more.

How about a compromise, a UFC event every two weeks. One would be PPV that would hold the big name fights, and the other the Fight Night events on Spike with some of your smaller named fighters.
Whether they happen stateside or overseas doesn't really matter to me. But for overseas events, I feel they need to spread their wings past England and they need to do it soon. Have events in Asia, Eastern Europe and South America. Even a few more events in Canada (I love the fans in Canada and how interactive they can get).

I wouldn't doubt that some of the fighters also don't want to fight that often. A few of the names you mentioned are running businesses as well, they have to literally plan for enough time to train to fight. It is one of the benefits that these fighters have that is also a curse. Liddell spends alot of time doing expo's and signings and literally has to make sure to keep his schedule clear to train for fights. Henderson actually does run a farm and certain times are better for him than others to train and fight.
While I love that some people are completely dedicated to fighting as much as possible like Anderson Silva and almost anyone from Brazil, I also understand that these men do have lives they are trying to live as well.
Mostly though I believe it is as mentioned above, the UFC is actually posting a profit by not spenind 8 mil a fight on salaries as some of their competitors have. Yes I also know that is an exaggeration, but scarily enough not that big of one.
