Poor Matchmaking

I said this before UFC 89 Kelly vs Davis was a bad mismatch, Kelly had next to no experience, no ground game and should have not been put in with a seasoned Vet like Davis that early in his career so shame on UFC for that one.
I would say Cote vs Silva is a poor matchup but there isnt much left in the MW division so fair enough and Cote has enough experience.
Any mismatches or poor matchups you have seen or are due to happen?

The bottom 5 really aren't that big of mis matches, but the first one is pretty bad. Kongo is actually pretty bad. The other 4, who knows?

Some of these fights are what I call "Showcase fights". The obvious reason for them is for the favorite to put on a show and showcase their skills, but the opponent does not have to sign the fight agreement and it is a great opportunity for them. I mean these guys are pro MMA fighters, not every fight is going to be perfectly matched up and I really did not think Paul Kelly did all that bad against Marcus Davis. He pretty much guillotine choked himself but he just beat Paul Taylor so they had to give him a tough fight and it happened to be Davis. Could the UFC have given him a more even matchup? Yeah, but I really thought that the matchmaking for UFC89 was great and is not that bad overall.

If the fight involves a mid tier guy fighting a relative nobody, it isn't really a big deal to me. You have to get the nobodies into the spotlight somehow. If the nobody steps up his game and put on a show, he's earned his spot. If the mid tier guy does what he should do and dominates the nobody, he did was he was supposed to do and it bolsters his name.

Kenny Florian vs. Joe Stevenson is a TERRIBLE matchup...

what if joe wins? no one wants to see him get mauled by BJ again, and he Florian (one of the biggest LW contenders) is no longer a contender....stupid stupid fight

Florian has done enough to earn a shot @ BJ....

But it's a sick match up that I really really want to see. That is going to be a frankin' awesome fight.

When BJ gives up the title, I see Joe Daddy going on a serious run. Really sucks he looked so brutal in that fight. UFC is pretty screwed if he wins that fight.

Not a mis-match though.

The Carwin Wein match-up at UFC 89 was just plain wrong.
