Just re-watched the fight to see if I could hear the ref say “come on guys, stand up” and I never once heard that. That would be an odd order coming from a ref unless he stops the action first.

He did often say “do something” “come on guys” and crap like that.

Overall, I am not impressed with the Chicago fans or the Illinois Refs (and I am from Chicago)

Man I wanted that one idiot to shut the f**k up. Every 5 seconds "Ca'mon guys let's go" Seconds after a slam "Ca'mon keep working!"

I thought the "Dr." did a fine job. But, yes, that other guy was a complete idiot. As soon as it went to the ground, it was 'come on guys.' LOL, what a tool.

Guy probably still would have said "Don't just stand there" in the middle of a guy picking someone up for a slam...

I was seriously waiting for Rogan to pull a Junie Browning and jump the cage and KO the ref. That ref was pissing me off and obviously Rogan too. Rogan throwing a ref in a triangle would be classic LOL

Im glad other people noticed that jackass ref during the maynard clementi fight. At least he added entertainment value though to one of the most boring fights ive ever seen. Me and all my buddies were like wtf is wrong with this ref come on keep worken do something every 10 seconds when maynard was slamming him. Please dont ever let that guy ref a ufc match ever again.

Rogan's best line after multiple "C'mon guys, let's work!" comments was "Dude...they're fighting."

I will agree that the guy was annoying, but if the UFC has another event in ILL they don’t have a choice, and should NEVER have a choice over who the refs are!

When fighting in the UK they have a choice because there is no governing body (like an athletic commission) for MMA there. But they do act accordingly, they hire an outside expert (usually a commission member or a former commission member) to handle the duties that a commission would normally do!

Side Note:

It is not that uncommon in combat sports to see a Dr. as the official. In all my readings of athletic commission rules I have found that referees are not that well paid for the most part, so a good part of them have outside jobs.

If a doctor is a fan of the sport and wants to be involved, why not be a referee. They obviously have the intelligence to understand rules, and not getting paid well doesn’t matter much to them, they already have money!
