The showboating didn't bother me at all (Come on, BJ fan here.) In fact it would have made the fight fun if it had been an actual fight. It was almost seemed purposeful to let Cote get to Round 3. He would showboat then do nothing. Had he pushed some action after waving his hands through the air I would be ignoring this thread altogether. But I think it was disrespectful as a fighter to just dance around. And whoever compared him to Machida is wrong. Machida doesn't dance around not looking to engage at all. I find his style boring but effective. Machida gameplans, Silva was goofing off.

Anderson Silva wants to be the Roy Jones Jr of MMA. No doubt he looks up to him so he tries to do some of the stuff Jones used to do:

I definitely saw a lot of it as showboating. I didn't lose respect, but it wasn't cool.

Acting like that, especially when you are the Champion, is shameful in my opinion. At some points he just reminded me of Keith Hackney.

I feel similar. To say that he wasn't showboating at all was absolutely ******* ridiculous, because he was, and I am a Silva fan.

There's a difference between making "fighting beautiful" and dancing around like a ******* prick. He looked like he couldn't give two shits who the **** Cote was, and offering him a hand up was just crossing the line.

Never thought I'd say this but I lost a ton of respect for Silva tonight. I hope he get's knocked the **** out by whoever he fights next so he can wake up and realize he's human.

The hand thing is the only thing I'd perhaps consider disrespectful. Knowing Anderson from interviews and stuff, I am sure that was not his intention anyways.

But fighting in an elusive manner is not showboating. It's simply fighting in an elusive manner. You've got to throw fakes, have swift movement, confuse your opponent. God damn, that was beautiful.

To go off-topic, I was really impressed with the level of striking technique shown in all fights today. Sherk/Griffin had excellent exchanges on the feet and Thiago Alves looked amazing with his muay thai. Heck, even Josh Koscheck showed some really good kickboxing skills.

Anderson Silva was showboating because he wanted Patrick Cote to become the aggressor because that is were Anderson is best when his opponent is coming after him, Cote was refusing to do that and Anderson was non to happyl, the dancing was Silva trying to play to Cote's temper and get a response it just kept failing.

Lyoto fights in an elusive manner, what Silva did was just over the top, and it came off very cocky. I was at a big sports bar watching this event and everyone was absolutely disgusted with what Silva was doing, it was Cote who got all the fans tonight where I was. Showing the "three" at the start of the first round had people going ******* nuts. I'm actually so disappointed with Silva tonight, and it's a shame cause Silva has been one of my favourites for a while.

I agree with all the stand up technique shown (with the exception of Silva), there was so great stuff shown tonight, very entertaining.
