Has Sherk forgot he's a wreslter?

I noticed again tonight much like the Penn fight that Sherk decided to use his newfound striking skills rather than the wrestling that has been the bread and butter of his MMA career, personally despite the fact that I thought he was winnning the standup the 2nd round was close and I thought he would want to take Griffen down and cement himself the round. Why is Sherk suddenly a striker?

did u watch the first round man? sherk got 2 td's and took his back....couldn't do much from there, but i think as the fight went on, tyson got more slippery and harder to takedown...sherk went for a td in the second but didn't get it and he stuffed one of tyson's too....

since a missed td is usually scored for the defender, why do it when you feel your winning the standup (which he was...narrowly tho)

1. He has good stand up. 2. Tyson is a good wrestler. 3. He was winning, why stop doing something you're having success with?

Yeah, his striking is a little underrated IMO. He's never really used THAT much. We saw a lot of it with BJ Penn but when you compare the BJ fight to this one in terms of how good his stand up looked...it's just not too fair.

I was just about to bring that up, he's striking has looked great since that fight. And it was about 2 years ago I believe.

Never seen it, Im actually pretty surprised to hear that Im gonna have to try and watch it tommorow,

In response to your early comments I did see the first and actually though he was gonna finish Griffen off early but other than the first couple minute Sherk really didnt use much wrestling, I figure Sherk was by far the better wrestler and actually though Griffen would have the advantage striking,

well...not to discount bj but he has a pretty healthy reach on sherk....sherk came up short on ever counter left hook, which is his favourite punch it seems.
