So what about the rubber guard (and the Miller/Horwich fight)?
Underrated? Overrated? In the ufc, it so far hasn't been working particularly well as a submission setup (perhaps this is because nobody gives a rat's ass about the many arm bars and triangles from rubber guard, just the omoplata). Of course it still works fairly well as a sweep, but as a sbmission set up?
Also, do you think that the Miller/Horwich fight was controversial? Cause I thought it would go the other way, with all the sub attmepts. Plus, so far Demian Maia's over hook based guard (which, of course, also relies on "hand on the mat) seems just as aggressive if not moreso than the rubber guard.
But tbh, I'm tired of all the rubber guard hype. One of the reasons
lost was because the rubber guard had turned him into a one trick pony and he just refused to try anything else.
