Going the Distance

Is it just me, or does it seam like more and more fights are going the distance? Personally, I hate for a MMA fight to go to the judges. For some reason, the judges see a totally different fight that anyone else in the area 50% of the time.

I know it will never happen but I would love to see MMA go back to the "no round limit, fight until someone quits" style. I want to see a winner and a loser not a judges opinion.

it depends on the division...HW fights rarely got to decision b/c they pack so much power into each punch...whereas ALOT of LW fights go the distance b/c their strikes aren't as powerful....and theirs alot more well rounded guys @ LW too...ALOT more

Cecil Peoples is the only judge that really pisses me off. I remember recently, I forgot who was fighting, it went to a decision, and the two other judges scored it 30-27 and he had it as tied, I was like why is this dude still allowed to judge? But yeah, it would probably be a good idea to have unbiased fighters scoring the rounds. That being said, the only time I don't like it when it goes to a decision if it was a boring fight, which rarely happens, or the judges give the win to the person I thought lost.

I have no problem with a fight going the distance as long as its a good fight and both guys are working to finish the fight. As guys get better and match making gets better so that all the fights are competitive I think more and more fights will go the distance. At some point I think they may have to switch the scoring system around a bit but I dont think it is too big of an issue right now.

I dont mind decisions when the decisions are correct. Im extremely tired of being completely convinced that fighter "a" won the fight, only to hear the judges score it for fighter "b". Most of the time I wonder what kind of mma knowledge the judges have, if any, or if they're just boxing judges hired by the commission. IMO takedowns seem to count for way way too much. If you take someone down and do nothing with it, or get punched in the face from the bottom, then the other guy should be the one getting the points (ala 1st round of Sherk vs Griffin). Just my opinion...

Top 5 fav. fighters (in order)

1. GSP
2. Franklin
3. Lesnar
4. Forrest
5. Big Nog
