Dana offers Kimbo a shot.

Quote:
“What has the guy done to deserve to be in the UFC? Nothing. I don’t consider him a real athlete or anything. He won’t win The Ultimate Fighter (TUF). The offer is out there if he wants to take it and he won’t win it. I might [put a heavyweight show together just for him].”

UFC President Dana White answers a question at the UFC 90: “Silva vs. Cote” post-fight press conference about the chances of Kimbo Slice fighting inside the Octagon someday soon. Slice — a Miami street brawler turned mixed martial artist — is now out of a job because of the collapse of Elite XC. And while he may still be raw in terms of all around skills, Slice has huge drawing power — people flock to their televisions or computers to watch him do his thing. Therefore, it’s safe to say that if Slice does take up White on his offer that Spike TV ratings would likely go through the roof. But locking Kimbo in a house with several up-and-comers in their twenties for six weeks doesn’t ever seem like it would happen. Who knows, but the offer is apparently Slice’s for the taking to perhaps prove White wrong and earn a UFC contract.

I find this hilarious, but also at the same time somewhat exciting. I'd love to see Kimbo take the opportunity. I think he'll take his money from EXC and run, but maybe he wants to prove people wrong, and show he is a good fighter, especially to prove his biggest skeptic in Dana.

This would be awesome, and who knows Kimbo might learn MMA while he is on the show. I remember Dana saying something a few years ago about not doing anymore HW TUF's because the talent pool just isn't there, I would hope he'd be able to find at least a handful of decent HW's that could participate on the show.

While I think this would be awesome, I also think kimbo will likely take his money from elitexc and either do freakshow matches in japan or do pro wrestling(most likely choice).

kimbo just doesnt have a competitive spirit

i may be alone in this, but i hope Kimbo takes this. i didnt hate Kimbo himself, i was accually impressed that he found an accual camp with Bas, and tried to train for real. I HATED the hype that EXC put on him and the uninformed public flocking behind him. I'd like to see Kimbo in a training camp and put through the riggors. i know he is not a complete fighter, and anyone with a decent ground game will mess him up, but he does fill seats, seems pretty humble and understanding of what this game is. i think Kimbo can be a competent fighter with more training, not a champion, but a good fun guy to watch. Hell Krazy Horse gets more love around this forum then Kimbo does, and i think Kimbo is twice the fighter Krazy is... again i understand i may be alone on this.. heh

why not give him a shot? he has shown atleast SOME credibility in his fight vs. Tank Abot, and you must admit, although he is not the most talented MMA fighter, he has alot of respect with his stand up. i say dana gives him a shot, get your ratings even higher, bring in new a new audience, and let him proove himself. in no way am i saying there aren't more talented HW's out there, but why not give him a shot and if he fails he fails.

I have no problems with Kimbo, it's very unfortunate that he became the face of a corrupt and money-hungry organization. I'm certainly no expert on his personal life, but I can't think of one bad thing to say about him. Just because someone isn't a technically sound fighter, doesn't mean he is a bad person. I understand why Dana gives him such a hard time, but I hope he is attacking the "Image" of Kimbo, and not the person.

Honestly Dana, just let it go man. Sometimes Dana just doesn't know when to quit, the world had already forgotten about Kimbo Slice, and here he is again bringin him back up.

It's so ****ing obvious that Dana wants Kimbo in the UFC, he's a huge draw.. he's willing to build an entire TUF season around a wager on Kimbo losing? Sounds like a marketing device to me, building a show around Kimbo much like the Shaws did.
