Cote out for 6-8 months

http://www.tsn.ca/mma/story/?id=2539...headlines_main

Yeah, I really don't see a re match happening. He'll be long forgotten when he comes back next summer. Hopefully he returns to face a contender though.

Hopefully he recovers to 100% to, knee injuries are frickin' scary.

I wouldn't say he would be long forgotten, but it will be a long road before he has another title shot.

People don't even mention Jon Fitchs' name anymore, it's all about Thiago Alves. The climb is long, and the fall is quick.

I think the main difference in Cote's situation is that he wasn't beaten a freak injury caused him to lose where as jon fitch was dominated for 5 rounds.... I think it will be harder for Fitch to get a rematch....

Not really! Not when Anderson has 5 more fights left on his contract. Since half of those fights will be in LHW that leaves at least 2 more fights in MW division. One will probably go to Okami (if he beats Dean Lister) and possibly Robbie Lawler (if the UFC can acquire him).

Also, since Patrick Cote will be coming off an injury the UFC will probably be cautious of giving him a title shot. He could comeback looking like Frank Mir( when he came back from his injury).

Not only that Silva vs. Cote 1 was not that interesting. All people will remember from that fight is Anderson Silva thinking he was on an episode of "Do You Think You Can Dance" and Patrick Cote not mounting much of an offense. So I really can't see too many people spending $40.00 for it.

As for Fitch, he'll probably have two maybe three victories in during the time Cote is gone. So I think it will be more likely he'll get a title shot before Cote.

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam

Good grief, it hasn't even been two months.

Very true.

I honestly think he would not be so erased in everyones memory if it wasn't for the complete domination over him.

Fitch had a very good chin in that fight. But other than that he was embarrassingly outclassed in every other aspect of that fight.

I could be wrong, but had the fight been more of a shootout I think Fitch's name would still be buzzing everywhere.
