Why do people assume that Silva was toying with him and that he was going to finish Cote in the 3rd?

Who knows what would have happened. I wouldnt have been shocked it Silva finished him but I wouldnt have been surprised if it went the distance either.

It seems pretty obvious Cote was referring to screwing up Silva's gameplan. And from the looks of it, he was, unless Silva's gameplan was to go out there and devaule his own stock as the best p4p fighter. Cote made it to the 3rd round and took next to no damage. Cote could have easily won the first two round if he would have landed just a decent blow in the ends of either of those rounds since he was the aggrressor in both of them. Never know with judges.

That's not necessarily my point. Several people have stated matter-of-factly that the fight was on it's was to a decision. I don't see any reason to assume this would happen considering Silva's history in the UFC.

He has fought 7 opponents in the UFC prior to Cote and stopped all of them. I think the evidence actually indicates that it is far more likely that the fight wouldn't make it to a decision.

Also, I don't think he was toying with him... More like he was looking for an opportunity to capitalize on.

also most believed that Cote had a puncher's chance. KO power in both hands and all that. I was watching for the KO punch to fly the whole fight.

If it continued I don't think it would have made it to a decision being both guys wanted to try and end it.
