Martin Kampmann Extends Contract with UFC-Going to WW

http://www.thefightnetwork.com/news/...tract_with_ufc

FiveOuncesOfPain.com has learned that the UFC has signed Martin Kampmann to a new four-fight contract.

The news was confirmed with Kampmann’s agent, Ken Pavia.

Kampmann is 13-2 in his professional mixed martial arts career and is 4-1 lifetime inside of the Octagon. His most recent fight was a first round TKO loss to Nathan Marquardt at UFC 88 in September but prior to that he was 4-0 with victories over Crafton Wallace, Thales Leites, Drew McFedries, and Jorge Rivera.

A standout kickboxer prior to crossing over into MMA, Kampmann has become a respected grappler and had won nine consecutive fights prior to the loss to Marquardt.

According to Pavia, Kampmann is planning to drop to welterweight for his next bout and has also signed a sponsorship agreement with Hitman Fight Gear.

I think he is screwed either way to tell ya the truth. Too many big strong wrestlers at 170. Im saying it right now, he will have a worse record as WW than he did at MW.

I don't know Kampmann at WW is something he had to do because of size just like Swick but I don't know if he matches up well.

I actually think Kampman will do well at WW he looks tiny at MW but will be quite at home size and strength wise at WW although he still wont be a big WW by any means.

The WW division will be tough but I'd always want to be as big or bigger in a weight class than always the smaller one.

As previously mentioned, I hope he doesn't get bullied by the bigger wrestlers in the division. Hell even bigger guys like Alves and GSP are gonna be larger than him. Oh well...I'm a big Kampmann nuthugger so I hope he's successful.

He will do well in either division. Getting caught with a head kick can happen to anyone. That was a setback. But he is very tough and can take big shots. These wrestlers will have to hold him down for 3 rounds or most of them are going to be in trouble. Plus he has a decent ground game of his own. I can't wait to see him fight again.

He should fight some random newcomer to get the WW tank going, then fight Alves! That would be exciting, and I hope he KO's Alves to usurp his WW positioning.
