Chuck could probably be a threat to the title if he brought back his kicks. Punches worked against Wanderlei because Wanderlei fought a stupid fight and went after Chuck, and didn't utilize kicks and he couldn't hit Chuck with his reach.

Also a TD every now and then definitely won't hurt, hell he is a BJJ purple belt.

I think the Vitor fight is a prime example of what Chuck could be, he obviously wasn't going to win a boxing match, but he raped him with kicks.

Not like he has to be worried about being taken down, so I don't understand why he doesn't utilize them more.

Chuck can be an offensive striker as well as defensive, just he has to utilize his whole skill set to do so.

However, ATM he is only the #10 LHW in the world tops, so he really has to work to get a title shot.

Forum Bets: 2-0

yeah...chuck's a fatty at LHW. He's got less muscle mass than most of the division. You want him to move up to heavy and have less lean mass than EVERYONE in the division?

"Shamrocking?" Is that like the mma equivalent of "Jumping the shark?"

I think he needs to develop a bit more into his previous PREVIOUS self, the one before he fought Randy the 2nd time, like the one who fought Babalu the first time. That was when he was the aggressor, and his form of counterpunching has done him wonders, but has figured him out. The aggressive style with kicks would work wonders again.

He really really really needs to keep the left hand up by the chin though....2 losses now come from that

Liddell is no longer a top 10 LHW. His game plan is too one-dimensional, and his defensive holes too glaring.

Nonetheless, Chuck still loves to fight, and will face anyone Dana White throws at him. His stubbornness will lead to a Sakuraba/Ken Shamrock-esque demise. It's going to get ugly.

agreed, i'm v worried that this will happen and the Iceman will become a joke. if he gets ko'd in his next fight, i hope that he just bows out gracefully, remaining the legend which he is.

As much as of a fan of the Iceman as I am...I really doubt if Chuck makes it back to title contention, let alone actually put that belt back around his waist.

I just don't see it happening. He has, as it has been quoted, become predictable, and some of that previous "invincible aura" he walked with, that look in his eye...it seems to not be there. When he fought Wanderlei he had that very look again, but it just seems that the 205's have caught up with him.

But I've been wrong before.

Sure, it's fighting way after your time to stop fighting passed a while ago and then going insane.

Hate to say it. But i think he's done. Few more marquee fights, but i don't see him getting another title fight.

Its natural and happens in every sport.
